Co.Cc pissed me off

No money for .com guys, besides, if I change domain (which I could do in second or two) I would lose all the backlinks built for this one. And believe me, I know how to change a nameservers and first time I came across this issue.

No money for a dot com begs the notion of doing a blogspot blog.
In my book, those are golden.

However, there are some very cheap domains and webhosts.
Domain for 2 bucks, hosting for 4 a month.

Currently, I do $8/yr domain, $5 month hosting. Works out to
be $5.66 a month for both.

Alternative would be to get a domain, forward it to the blogspot.
Normally, after buying a domain, you can forward it free. At least
with my host. Buy a domain via someone who has a host.

I have a favorite host who I buy domains through. I am on a first
name basis. In fact, I'd call him a colleague. I can't imagine anybody
doing it differently, but some do swear by corporate hosts.

Getting back to your situation, not all websites transfer hosts
without a hitch. It's better to download you site files, then upload.

If you change DNS with the same host, no problem. But changing hosts
is where the trouble can start. It shouldn't be, but host servers vary
by what you can do--php, asp, cgi, among others. The server has to
match up.

You can change domains and still retain page rank, backlinks, and rankings by setting up a 301 redirect.

Don't know about the OP's current web hosting company, but 99% of free web hosts do NOT provide ANY way to implement 301 redirects. Some will if you pay them a monthly fee to keep the redirects in place (which you'll need for your new domain to continue to get credit for your old free site's links). But most do not. I mean why would they? If you're dumb enough to use them for anything other than a personal blog to share photos and "stuff" with friends and family, they are going to make it VERY painful for you to move your site later should it ever become popular and/or successful.

If you can't afford $5/month for hosting and $10-15 for a domain registration then you probably should look at getting a "real" job and have no business trying to make money online. Anyone can come up with $5 per month... That's about 17 cents per day. There is no such thing as a "free lunch".

This is just flat out wrong. I have never seen a web host free or otherwise that could prevent you from setting up a 301 redirect. I have accounts at everyone of the free hosts mentioned in this thread and have functional 301 redirects at each and every one of them.

The primary limitations of free hosts are in bandwidth, storage space and extras, particularly support. Most are running on the same Apache web server platform that your premium hosts run on. Also, most of the free hosts offer premium "paid" accounts that include those extras.

first of all, we should realize that every free hosting/ domain has their own weakness. why don't you try a dot.tk? i think it has better performance. or you can try shorturl to shorten your url. i know these are not the best idea., or someone has a better problem solving for our friend?

I've tried to contact co.cc via help center, told them about my problem, asked them to change DNS manually, two days have passed and no feedback from those ass*****!!

The result: my site from pretty decent grind with 160 backlinks and position in google is about to be taken out of index, because retards from CO.CC CAN'T CHANGE F****NG NAMESERVERS!!!

Anyone had similar problem?

I tinkered around with a .co.cc domain name just for fun and had the same problem...

Sometimes domain registrars don't allow you to change web host for a period of 30 days. Does that apply?

Yes, .co.cc is free domain (actually a sub-domain).

To Original poster, you can use .info or some other extensions which are available for $1-3.

And there are good free hostings available. Consult me if you still need one.

Ofcourse, now a days, you can get shared hosting for really very low price.

I made a blog network using freehosting packages and .co.cc domains before. Slow as hell but I didn't have any problems forwarding DNS. I just logged into control panel and updated details. This was a year ago though. I went back to look at them recently and it looked like they are charging now or something so maybe its different.

rather than go down this route as it sounds like you dont have the best technical background, start with the following websites that rank well and can make you cash without too much problems, although they are particular about what type of offers you promote:

hub pages
blogspot
squidoo

umm.. could probably think of a few more free platforms but its late. Just do a google.

@Social Media Marketing - Good points, I didn't think about the restrictions of a free hosting account.

@OP - I suggest to definitely pay for a fully featured hosting service, the costs are so worth it in the end. Your site probably has to suffer with a banner or link of some kind right?

What GuerrillaIM has suggested regarding the blog sites is probably the best option for you though. They are free to use and are easy to rank with.

@OP how come you have no money for .com? you wrote that you your site has 160 backlinks and has position in google. the question is, does your site not make any money so you can't afford .com? you should not rely on free services for long term business. just my 2 cents.

So now what IP address you are getting for your domain? If the IP address is same as intended then co.cc has done its work. In that case, the problem is at your webhost.
