Adsense as a Business Model
- SEO |
You can approach Adsense one of two ways: as an adjunct to your 'primary' business, or as a business model. Using Adsense to supplement your other efforts is fine.
However, if you're looking for significant, sustainable earnings, you have to approach it as a business model. I can tell you from experience with many others that failure to do so is what leads many to proclaim "Adsense sucks".
Specifically:
- If you're going to make the effort and devote the time & resources, don't sabotage your efforts. Don't mix Adsense with affiliate sales and list-building on the same sites.
- Take the time to read their TOS and Program Policies yourself rather than relying on 2nd or 3rd hand information about what's ok or not.
- Understand that Adsense boils down to a simple equation: traffic x conversions (CTR) x payout (EPC) = earnings. To boost your earnings, you must boost one or more of these factors.
- Commit to your business. Research your keywords so that you're targeting ones with decent search volume, decent payouts, and that you can actually rank for. Then put in the effort and allow the time to rank.
Adsense is a terrific business model if you understand it and apply yourself.
