ummm this video is really about backlinks and Matt doesn't say anything much. In fact to me he kinds of ducks the issue before most web masters. its pretty obvious that people link much more to novelty tech, pictures, videos, resources etc more than they do articles. So he may lie but in this video I find his examples very telling.

Agreed with Fraggler. I haven't been around here in months because I've been starting my own offline consulting business. I'm so glad I took that step. Once you have something to market, or skills to market, and you know how to do it, then backlinks and Google videos all become pointless.

Evolve your business and you'll keep moving forward, otherwise all this SEO stuff will bog you down. SEO is a very tiny fraction of a much larger world.

Find your skills, develop and expand them, then get out there and sell them.

To me, it kind of depends on how 'MFA' it looks.

Virtually all of the niche sites I build are intended to make money in one fashion or another but they're also designed to fit into their designated niche as well. So, what happens is that people will see the site listed high in Google, they click thru and scan the site, typically not reading in depth but just reading headlines. Buyers, hopefully, click on ads too but they only account for about 25-50% of the traffic in most cases. Others, the info seeking scanners, often use a link to my site in Yahoo Answers or other such sites, forums and their own blogs.

Seeing this effect in action on a number sites I built with unique looks rather than using a generic theme or template made me decide to expand upon it. It's subtle, but effective, link bait to look like an authority site on the topic and not just something somebody slapped up using a generic MFA template.

Here's one of my favorites from the .info discussions: Roman Coins If you look like this site it just says hobbyist and not affiliate site. It is a true info site and not even monetized but does give you an idea to follow that's outside of the usual IM/MFA box.

Here's another one I just ran across tonight: Best Kitchen Sink It's a good example of what I'm talking about with the personalization and pictures built on a simple WordPress theme. Many of my sites are similar although this one isn't mine.

Another good one with a hand built fan site look and personalization: National Slot Car Network (lousy Adsense placement though).

In other words, think about what a potential buyer or fan of a product would expect to see in a review or informational site. When you do this you'll get surprisingly good links (just like the ones I've given here) and, if you've done things right, great conversions too.
