Or someone tells them about it.
Like your competitor for example.

Yes. What you read is true. But i still see that some webmasters but links and some of them don't be penalized by Google. But if Google detects them, their ranking will be changed fast. I myself prefer natural link building without any automatic software or buying links.

That article is wrong!

Google has no policy that prevents buying links as long as you follow their guidelines you will have no problems.

From Google's website:

Not all paid links violate our guidelines. Buying and selling links is a normal part of the economy of the web when done for advertising purposes, and not for manipulation of search results. Links purchased for advertising should be designated as such. This can be done in several ways, such as:

Adding a rel="nofollow" attribute to the <a> tag
Redirecting the links to an intermediate page that is blocked from search engines with a robots.txt file

Buying links can't be that harmful. If in that case, I'd purchase tons and tons of links and bombard my my competitors. Paid links aren't just powerful compared to natural links. Purchasing them is useless. Just be patient and consistent enough to do do backlinking by your own.

That's correct, buying links will not hurt you, but it will also not do you much good. Most links you purchase will be from "high pr" blogs that have been commented to death!

Ever seen those 10 mile long blogs, only to finish reading it in 2 minutes before getting to the "post a comment" box? This may be an example of what you're buying. How much value do you think your little link has among the other 200 links?...

..not much link juice left!

Actually much more than you think and some of the SEO "gurus" claim with their nifty formulas.:rolleyes: We tested the link power of a couple hundred PR3 to PR6 domains, and didn't notice any difference in SERP ranking power if there were 5 OBLs on the page versus 80. Of course, we also didn't notice any difference for "relevant" versus "irrelevant" topics, but i've been saying that all along.

There is which website selling links, this websites get banned from google and after banned these website automatically google banned another website who buy links on these sites.(which website links on that sites)
so if anyone buy links from any website, check your link buy website every week they get banned or not, if they get banned so immediately remove your links so you don't get punish by google.

I notice the WF is selling links now. Checked the code to see if they show up. Sure enough, the links are showing. Hmmmmm. I guess the WF is contributing to the
demise of people's websites by selling links. Pity. WF will soon be banned as well.

At the end of the day what's the point in purchasing links - that money could go towards building a relevant website matching the criteria of the website you want links back to and you could link that site from your new one.

Well, the argument for paying for links is to get some high authority, high PR links
without much trouble. Instant gratification. You do have to weigh the costs
and effectiveness.

But the argument here is really on the crazy idea that buying links is bad. When you
stop and think about it, google's empire is built on....paid links! Paid links make
the internet what it is, really.

Yeah, why pay for links from websitse that have thousands of highly targeted daily visitors when you could spend an equal amount on building a website that currently has no traffic at all? :confused:

The IM market is flooded with people selling backlinks.

Why? So many people are buying them. Get caught and they will ban you, no doubt.

Of course Google says it is okay to buy link in clearly marked advertising. Otherwise they would be putting themselves out of business. AKA = AdWords

People are not buying nofollow links in an effort to increase SEO.

Google even has a form in Webmaster tools to report people that buy backlinks. So, if you ever do it, don't tell even your wife.
