First of all, you have to understand how search engines work! Search engines look for 3 main things:

1. Relevancy
2. Popularity
3. Originality

Unless you understand that you will not succeed!


#1 BE RELEVANT!!!

To rank high you have to talk only about your niche. If you talk about 10 different things or go off topic, search engines wont know how to rank you! Keep in mind using KEYWORDS is probably the most important thing! Also make sure your keywords stay relevant to your niche!


#2 BE KNOWN!!!

Get your content out there! You need to make sure that there are sites that link to you! Blogs, forums, Myspace, Facebook, twitter, ect. , are all very easy and free ways to make this happen! The all have HUGE amounts of potential traffic too!


#3 BEING ORIGINAL IS KEY!!!

You have to be original because the search engines try to find the newest and most exciting information, not the same old warn out stuff that everyone else is talking about! The main thing is to make several unique versions that will backlink to the original post on your site!

    nice.. what should I do if I am using a bunch of creative commons content, but attempting to add value? just edit it enough so it looks different to search engines? sorta like spinning? what if there is too much... but it still is valuable? they will just ding me anyway?

    Michael, yes its just like spinning, I know that the spinning software sometimes changes too much so if you do it by hand, it tends to look more natural! As long as you change it around a little the search engine will not detect that its the same post!

    Very short and useful.To me the best way to spin any content is to do it manually,can't trust any spinning software to do this automatically,although it is some how strenous and time consuming.
