Entering high competitive niches is not recommended. It's really hard to get to the top results and get traffic from SEO. I would advice searching for a similar niche (long tail) and look for less competition. It would be so much easier to get ranked in Google if take those niches.

If you enter a highly competitive niche, you need both time and resources. The wise people in IM will tell you to go after low hanging fruits. Work smart not hard....

First of all the # of Search Results that Google returns is irrelevant - Your true competition is going to be the first 10 or 20 results in Google (so pages 1 & 2).

I personally like Traffic Travis and just use SEOQuake to check the top 20 sites' PR, BLinks, etc... And go off of this.

If it's your first site, then I would suggest targeting a really easy niche/keywords (long tail keywords). This way you get your feet wet and get a feel for this whole SEO/SEM thing!

I suggest you attack the niche differently than fighting those authority sites head-on. You may want to look for a sub-niche and start from there working your way up.

If you want to see faster results, then just do what the others have told you - go for a really easy niche but make sure there's money on it too.

Sry man i just re read it and your right it made zero sense lol i must been on something an hour ago... but what i ment to say is rank on Long tail keywords like instead of loss weight you do "loss weight fast tonight" but it has much lower searches so how do you get more traffic do you add them up an keep finding long tail keywords?

That's what a lot of IMers do with their little mini niche AdSense sites. You find some long tail keywords with low competition that get like 1k-5k searches a month. It's not much but lets say you rank #1 for the keywords for a term that gets searched for a thousand times a month - that's like 34x a day. If your site is #1 you're going to get like 90% of the clicks - so that's like 29/30 visits to your site/day. So with a 10% CTR @ say $1.75 that's like $5.25/day from one site. Times that by 100 sites...

Get the picture?!?! Start small and build your way up. I would suggest a low competition long tail keyword with 1500-5k exact/phrase searches/month and practice ranking - practice your on- and off-site optimization. Practice makes perfect and you'll figure out your own way to do things - like backlinking and keyword/competition research - buying terms versus browsing terms.

prepare yourself for the amount of workload and time to outrank the sites. Most of the time also prepare your budget to buy quality links.
