I have Google Alerts set up for the keywords that I target for different sites - you know... the keywords I try to rank for (obviously). Well, I uploaded a new site Tuesday evening and got my Google Alerts about 30 minutes ago. One of the alerts I have set up alerted me to the new website!

The alert was for exact search term I'm going to dominate! Yay!

That means the big G indexed my little ole website for the EXACT keywords I wanted it too! Choo Choo! :p

MERRY HAPPY THANKSGIVING! CHEERS!!

    that would be nice

I currently have a site that i wanted ranked for a keyword without a S on the end, I wanted the singular version, after a few weeks google only ranked me for the plural version, after a month still not singular, even tho it was optimized and backlinked that way, I gave up and switched it all to the plural and am now moving up in rankings that way...damn google

I still don't understand all that... In my Webmaster Tools it will show my keyword with 2 variants - singular and plural. It's weird. For one of these terms "Main Keyword" I rank on the first page, then for "Main Keywords" I rank like #118!!! (according to Rank Checker)

      I don't get it

      CHEERS!

Google doesn't index pages according to keywords. They just
index pages. They will tell you what they think your keywords
are, maybe that's what you mean. That google and you are on
the same page as far as perceived targeted keywords.

If that is true, yes indeed. That is pretty good. Means you
      are at least on-page optimized.

Exactly Paul, Thanks so much for clearing this up for me... (cough, cough). I'm just glad that they indexed my page, and when they indexed my site they told me about it through G Alerts that they think they know my keywords...

So let's review: Google indexed my site and it just so happens the keywords they picked out were the keywords I was targeting... Hmmm weird. Being indexed and ranking in the top SERPs are two different things though now... And I'm sure you'll agree with that. But that requires Off-site SEO... something I haven't really started yet.

Google doesn't index according to keywords - Google ranks according to keywords (optimization). Thanks for clarification.

On-Site SEO is perfect (IMO & according to TrafficTravis for my targeted terms (I like using this tool for page analysis and competition)).

I use a little Meta Indexing/Pinging tool to ping my site and the backlinks that I've built. Google Analytics & Google Webmasters Tools (submit Sitemap). I also will just Add URL to Google. Lol!

For this site I've done some backlinks - no articles yet - no social bookmarking - some blog comments here and there, but nothing special yet. Just good on-site seo for my keyword (and the keyword is in the URL).
