Hi guys Need help identifiying why my site dropped, The only changes i made was i back linked 17 inner pages using blogengine 600 back links between them with in 1 day backlinks on Scrapebox, and also i deleted some content from the home page, I was getting 20 visitors per day now im getting zero i was also ranked 114 th position for my search term now im ranked 308 th , Could this be a google dance that is going on ? i hope not i had big plans for spending a few thousand dollars on quality links for this site to get it to the top, I'm thinking now only buy links once the site recovers its position i know this could take month's. I know a google dance can last month depending months like 4 month's or more depending on how many backlinks you have used. The only reason i backlinked the inner page was because i though google can not penalize my home page looks like i was wrong, I look forward to your comments guys thanks.

If it's a site with few links and you threw all those links up in day, you might be out of luck for a while. Build links slowly and steady.

Yes. You were wrong as you understand it now
600 backlinks for a new domain in one day is a lot. You should stop making backlinks for a while in my opinion or make only some quality backlinks. Also keep updating your website by new unique contents.

I had a similar instance, just not as big a drop. I haven't added any real number of backlinks. However, I put a link on my blogger blog. It seems to index every post and give me credit in YSE for a separate link for each one. Any ideas?

This goes for both of you:

If your SERP drops had anything to do with fresh links then you're more than likely just experiencing what we call the Google dance. I've built hundreds of links to sites in a single day and never got penalized for it. If that worked, there would be a lot of sites I would be getting backlinks for so that they would get penalized. My advice to you guys is to simply continue building links at a constant pace (not hundreds per day, pick a lower number and try to stick with it). Have some patience and within a few weeks you should see your sites returning to a better position.

Good response. I've done the same - hundreds of backlinks for brand new sites multiple days in a row. If I'm lucky I'll see maybe 25% of them in a couple days Most recently I had a site that was a week old with 900 backlinks. Oh boy did it dance, and oh boy is it still dancing.

Drop 80 spots back move 90 spots up.... drop 100 spots back move 120 up. Craziness. It's a wicked keyword to rank for competition wise, but I'm making progress slowly but surely. That's the one thing I noticed though when building backlinks and have my site dance around. I always get nervous when it get bumped back by a huge amount, but it has always come back stronger than before... Experienced this from making/ranking multiple sites.

Give it some time! Everything takes time in the Search Engines ESPECIALLY with brand new web sites! They don't know what to do with you yet!?!?!

        Thanks for speaking some sense.

I build thousands of link per day to various money sites. Not really noticing a slap or a ban or anything like that.

If you get banned it's because of something really weird like getting a spam report in your autoresponder too many times or having someone report your site as an attack site.

Getting lowered in the rankings just means you're doing something wrong with your link building somehow. Doesn't necessarily mean slower.

If it's a new site I wouldn't worry about KW rank fluctuations between page 12 and 31 as there's really no difference. You won't see any kinds of big traffic changes until you hit page 1- longtail KW traffic is another story but that just comes naturally and with some time.

Also, a word of advice- I've built websites from scratch and sold them for 10's of thousands of dollars, and not once have I spent "thousands of dollars" on building quality backlinks...you may want to reevaluate that path! (If you know where to aim your gun, you don't need to buy missiles.)

    Cheers

It really doesn't matter. Whatever you are best at should work. Of course you want dofollow backlinks from relevant sites and on high pr pages but I as long as they are dofollow links you should be fine. I wouldn't worry about the number of backlinks that you are building anymore and I would NEVER stop.

Mix it up. Never settle for just getting one type of backlink. And skip the link wheels. General consensus says they're a waste of time unless you have many months and a lot of patience to slowly build them.

Stop panicking..relax take a deep breath! You did wrong by getting too many links in a day but nevertheless you should now concentrate in getting quality 4-5 backlinks per day.You can do social bookmarking and article submission that works great. It would take some time to see the results you will have to be patient.

The 2 sites I have been working on got slapped today. I dropped big time (not even showing in top 1000 using Market Samurai) and I haven't even thrown up any new links in the last few days. I have a blogger blog with a link to it, which seems to give me a few more links each day as posts get indexed/reindexed.

I am guessing this is just the dance and I need to keep working at it.

600 back links so quick is not good....The problem in the SEO community is that many have the belief that you need to get quick thousands of links...think about it..If you got a few links a month naturally and then bam, 1000s of links, wouldnt that raise a red flag with Google...They are smart nowadays so play smart and not cross the line.

Well, turns out it was the dance. I am back up to 31 today. Anyone have any backlink checker recommendations besides YSE? Because if I trust YSE only, then most of my slow and steady backlink building has been fruitless.
