I posted an article on my site at 11.04am GMT.

I received a Google alert for the new post at 11.07am GMT.

It was ranked top for the term when I searched at 11.08am GMT.

Not sure I can beat that for time - from submission to ranking in FOUR minutes!

Ok, it was a long tail term so I'm not clucking about the fact it ranked at #1, but I have never seen a post/page found and indexed in just four minutes before.

What's your record time?

That just about ties my record. Unfortunately, about 3-4 days later, my webpage slowly moved down, and then finally, disappeared from the first page (now I think it's on page 2 or 3). The moral of the story: work really hard to stay at the top for everything you rank for.

On October 31st, I had over 100 pages of my site ranking on the first page of Google (and at least 10 ranked #1) and I went out to celebrate being a success. On November 1st, I had none ranking on the first page, and I assume it is some kind of Algorithm change that affected me since my site is only around 6 months old. The graphs in my analytics account really tell the story of exponential failure in only one day. I've had to work this whole month, really hard, to get back to 50% of where I was.

    Hi Jazbo,

Did you have to backlink to the post etc to get it indexed within that time or are you saying it just hapenned naturally?

Also, what is the competition like for the long tail keyword phrase you ranked #1 for?

That's awesome. I'm still working on getting the post on some of my blogs to index at all.

I think it will depend on your domain age and also your backlink quantity. Because I have same experience too.

one of my blog which is the domain is almost 4 years old and also has a lot of backlink. Usually my article will get in 1st page on google straight after i post the article. Of course it will happen if i target long tail keyword.

I get this a lot when I do my article submissions. When your keywords are low but within your niche its easy to rank #1 quick!

My record time has got to be close to 20 seconds.

For one of my sites, literally, quicker than I can hit publish, and do a google search and I'll be ranking.

No exaggeration, my most authoritative site has pages ranking in a matter of seconds. As soon as that initial wordpress ping goes out, the post will be indexed and ranked.

I think your website is important for Google and it indexes it fast. And i want you to check if your page ranks top in Google in next days too. Usually these pages which are indexing fast, rank high after some minutes but their ranking will be dropped a little after few days. I don't know the reason.
