Do you have adsense CTR of about 20%

Seems that a lot of people around here claim to have adsense CTRs in the range of 10-20%.

I've got 10s of sites, different types and many different niches, and i've always had around 1-2% CTR for years.

Some of them are products micro niche sites, which are supposed to have higher CTR cause of the buying intent, but still they average about the same or slightly more.

Lots of my layouts are supposed to be high CTR optimised, but still....

so i guess i just wanted to see if the 10-20% CTR is just a myth or rare occasion or i'm doing something terribly wrong...

    I think a lot of it depends on the niche.
    If your site is targeted towards buying keywords people are more likely to click an ad.
    Those seeking more information before they make a purchase are less likely to click an add.

    Product based sites are also more likely to have a higher CTR.

    Basically, if you have a site where people are more interested in the content then the ads your traffic will be less likely to click.

      Alot of it has to do with the the niche and the amount of traffic.

      For example, when I first started with Adsense, I constantly saw CTR's of 20%+. But, I was seeing those CTR's on sites getting very little traffic (10-50 UV's per day).

      When those sites begun to get more traffic, CTR dropped. Product niches do better than informational niches in my experience, but there is never as much traffic as the informational niches.

      My average CTR on product based sites is around 8%, with some getting as high as 30% and some with like 4%.

      My informational sites earn more money overall though with a much lower CTR.

      I have one site that is just now getting close to 1k UV's and 3-4k pageviews per day with a 1.5% CTR. Terrible CTR, but with that much traffic and $1+ clicks, the site does very well.

        I have an old AdSense site up that still holds the #1 spot for it's Search Term. Today it's CTR is 16.67%! Shocking to me too! I haven't checked AdSense in a couple weeks til I saw this thread!

        P.s. Obviously, it's going to have alot to do with your keywords and whether it's a buying or browsing term. But it has alot to do with simplicity of the site and Ad placement - You don't want your Ads getting lost among a bunch of pictures or big links

        ^ This has pretty much been my experience, too.

        Well, not the exact stats, obviously.

        My average CTR is slightly higher on my product-centric sites - but, generally speaking, it's true that as your sites expand and your traffic grows, your CTR is going to drop.

        Its also true that "informational sites" seem to get a lower CTR than product-centric sites, but often seem to earn better.

        But my preference for micro-niche AdSense/Amazon sites is to stick to product-centric content / niches for the most part.

        For informational niches (which I'm just getting into), I'm more inclined to look towards building mailing lists and engaging in Clickbank product affiliate marketing.

    I have never been able to do as well with my CTR on Adsense as some of the others. I hold at a measly 5% or so BUT the clicks pay out VERY well.

    You know, based on this thread my click through rate is actually quite good....

    My traffic is pretty low though in comparison. I get pretty much no search engine traffic :/
