Hi All,

I have a unique problem and I wanted, I mean need help on what I can do to fix it. I started a blog last year and have tweaked the design and added content consistently throughout the year.

The good thing is that it has a lot of articles and some of them are on page one usually around position 5 or 6. The design is great I get clicks everyday.

The problem is the domain name while it is related to niche it is not searched for ever! furthermore the value for each of the clicks are very low.

While I get search traffic it is rarely it isn't very high I average about 20 visits a day.

What can I do to fix this?

Well, there is nothing you can do to make people search for your domain name more. Normally you would do some keyword research before choosing your domain name. So now focus on your content and target high volume search terms in your niche.

Then get that content to rank.

So if the keyword domain name has a high value then that means high value clicks right?

I was thinking of changing the domain name by doing a 301 redirect so I can keep all my Search engine Ranking and info it will be transferred to a different domain name, but high value address.

I don't think so. I'm going to assume it's going to be the content in general - I could be wrong though.

    Anybody else help?

Your earnings per click aren't determined by the 'value of your domain' or the amount of people viewing the pages. They are based on what advertisers are willing to pay to be on your site - this is usually determined by the theme of your page. If the content of your site doesn't attract high paying advertisers then your CPC won't be high either.

The other thing that can affect the CPC is whether the ads convert for the advertiser. This usually isn't a concern if your content is reasonably quality and you just aren't producing spammy keyword stuffed articles.

The best way to get higher earnings or CPC is to start writing content which attracts high paying advertisers. There might be some topics in your niche you can focus on. Otherwise, look at other monetisation methods.

If the domain name is a keyword you are targeting that is good for fast ranking in early days. Now that you have an established blog, you shouldn't worry about the domain name at all. The domain name is just one small factor of SEO that can easily be substituted by creating a few more anchor text links back to your blog.

So, don't worry about your domain name, it will be fine..

What do you mean by high value clicks? You firstly talk about value, then you talk about quantity, please clarify.

When you are targeting certain keywords, you can go for keywords with high search volume, this gives you more visitors.

Or, you could go for "money-keywords", which usually have less searches if you are going for the same level of competition.

Keep this in mind for when you are choosing your keywords.

    For example;

If you went for the keyword "hand puppets", you might see that 40,000 people are searching this phrase per month, if the competition is relatively low you may think "great, I can get loads of visitors by targeting this", but if you think about it, a lot of those visitors want to see pictures of hand puppets, watch videos of hand puppets, learn more about hand puppets etc...

...This is good, but you know what's better?...

Getting just a few visitors that have found your page through searching "buy hand puppets online".... obviously, these guys have their credit cards in their hand and are looking to purchase... these are the guys you want on your blog.

This is what quality traffic is about. I don't concentrate too much with quantity on my own sites, quality is where it's at

Thank you for your response, sorry I wasn't clear. What I meant by high value clicks is that when I do get clicks the value of it is not 50 cents or even a dollar it is 17 cents. I think that is kinda low, I would like to get more for a click basically.

So I need to target money words then? And the value of the clicks are determined by the content on the page and keywords that it targets?

    Sorry Jason,

I figured that one out after I clicked "Post Reply" - *hits self with hammer*

Basically, the higher the competition, the higher the price per click.

    Here's how to get an idea of keywords that pay great;

Go to Googles Keyword Tool - https://adwords.google.com.au/select...?defaultView=2

Then search for keywords in your niche or that you are going for.

Click "Columns" then select the "CPC" checkbox as below:

Now you will see what people are paying per click for their ads. You can determine that Google will take a slice of the pie and give you the rest for hosting the ad.

Here is what the column will look like:

Basically, review this, review your competition and go for keywords that you can rank for but also that are paying more than 20c lol.

You have to tweak your content to higher paying ads, as
well as not blocking anything, including images.

But don't fall under the trap of wanting higher cash per click.
You might get it, but you will get few clicks. Maybe even
      a lot fewer.

Nothing wrong with getting 100 17 cent clicks as opposed to
      3 one dollar clicks.

As stated above, many factors will determine your money per click.
The one on top is not always the highest paying. It's the top
performing. Google wants you to get clicks, actually. They want
their adwords users to get clicks.

Granted, some content pays more. But it still boils down to traffic.
And lots of it. It may be easier for you to pump up traffic rather
      than tweak your content.

Google will look at your page titles and content more than anything
      else.

The sites I make more on are the ones that get the most total clicks.
Not the biggest paying per click.

This is probably a real newbie question, but should this be broad or exact search results?
