Social Bookmarking - How Much Is Too Much?

If you are using a program like Socialbot to submit to social bookmarking sites, is there a limit to how many submissions you should do a day?

Even if you are submitting url's from different websites, should you limit how many you do?

I don't want to be seen as a 'spammer' if I did too many in a day so I just want to check if there is a limit that you recommend?

Even with Twitter and those types of sites, how many Tweets do you do in a day?

Mass bot submission software IS spam !

Bookmarks dont really count for squat unless you are targeting a keyword with less than 5,000 competing pages.

What ever happened to people writing one piece of quality content and getting 100,000+ people to look at it ?

If you owned Google would you not realize that someone is just bookmarking for link juice given the footprint these programs leave ?

I can get 1 article viewed more than 100k times in under a year and the link juice alone, not to mention the $200+ per week CPA income it generates, is nothing short of amazing. It can be done without lazy spamming :-)

Yes, too much of a good thing, right, but all in all if you are slamming all over the place, it tends to go badly for the website, now on the other hand, fresh, friendly, keyword, rich, compatible content, and you can write you own SEO ticket.

FWIW - I'm not spamming - hence the reason I'm asking the question because I don't want to appear as spamming. I use Socialbot very sparingly, but yes I do use it. I am just inquiring as to how much use is too much!

No that is a bad word, but look at it from the SE point of view, if they see the Socialbot URL associated with your website it could cost you, I use onlywire, but honestly I get better results, manually submitting I know its old fashioned, but it works, at least it does for me, Most of my websites have better traffic than many of these SEO companies that claim to produce "amazing" results.

Using keywords and great content will go a lot further than social book marking, strangely if you look at back links, the social book marking thing does not seem to be working very well, try doing a few searches for your website and see what pops up, also check alexa that is a great tool to use,

Thanks Tim - I appreciate your response and advice.

Just a little disappointed at Net Assassins response in the 'lazy spamming' comment when in his signature he promotes 'Article Assassin' that mass submits articles - I'm guessing that is automated so just sounds a bit hypocritical!

Oh, yes, I understand, I checked one of your websites and it has a decent traffic ranking but it does need some back links,) To answer your original question I think four updates per day with unique content for each update is a good goal,

There is not any limitation for you but it depends on the age and number of backlinks of your website. For example if your website is new and it has 2,000 backlinks, you should not make 500 backlinks daily for your website through social bookmarking. But if your website has enough backlinks, You can do it more but always try to submit your pages to quality social bookmarks and do it somehow to looks natural.

      Thanks socialbookmark

I actually don't have that many accounts set up in socialbot, so when I run it I'm only submitting to about 20 sites anyway. That is a good way to look at it though - depending on the number of backlinks the site already has - thanks!

With all the social communities and bookmarking services out there, it can be a challenge to know the best methods to go about taking advantage of the existing infrastructure. One key is to choose a small number of services and then stick with them. Over time, your involvement with those bookmarking services will add up and pay dividends.

I think after 15 to 20 submissions continuously on a particular we must change the keyword.

Just because you automate a task, it does not mean you are a spammer. You are just choosing to be efficient. I bookmark my urls once a month on average. I use drip scheduling in BMD to set up short runs that are spaced out about eight hours apart.

If you keep your tags to five or less per submission, and also submit (to main bookmarking sites) non-commercial content along with your own URLs, you will not be considered a spammer.
