I am some pawn in a clever SEO BlueFart - no idea why / how it works

Hi there,

My traffic started ramping up massively recently (about 2 months ago), and I have been getting some random forum posts which I delete as soon as I se them (spam)

And also had a bunch of Wiki spam, which I delete daily (am going to have to take down wiki, as cant keep up).

But what is weird I used to have around 800-1000 inbound links (slowly built either through my forum posting, or via organic / viral / natural linking), but when I checked, I have about 216,457 (and about a week ago it was 180,000)

When I check, there are masses of mainly forum and blog spam, doing massive link building towards me.

I suspect this could be some very clever co-citation method, which is cashing in on the fact that my forum has spam up for a day or 2?

Also the Wiki spam links are getting cycled through at a massive pace (eg main page is getting replaced every 5 mins)

Any ideas on
1) What they are doing?
2) How it works
3) Why they are doing it

4) Most importantly, how can I notify Google what is happening so that I dont get a slap for being apparently in some dirty viagra / casino cross linking / cocitation SEO plan of which I have no idea of how or why it works.

On the upside, due to this SEO campaign, I have had 50% increase each month in my traffic, due to the google rank juice that 200k inbound links is generating for me, I am just worried that there is some clever plan which I will get some sort of slap for later..

Anyone know the path to ask google about link spam?

Post a page that is getting massively backlinked....

I suspect - people have identified your forum as a place to get a backlink. They use xrumer or other automated tools to create profiles with links and some random forum posts with backlinks to whatever.

then they use automated tools to build backlinks to these backlinks.

Some of these can create 1,000's of profiles per hr.

Then ... each profile can be linked back to 8-15x per day.

Its possible to build 15 backlinks to 1000 profiles per day ... just 1 person doing it. Imagine 100 people or 250 people doing it?

Enjoy the inflow of links ....

Just try and keep the outbound links to porn and pharma OUT of your site.

Exactly why I hate people posting tons of forums, blogs, etc. to
spam. It does nobody any good. But the insanity continues.

People don't realize there are real owners behind sites.

Taking down the wiki was a wise move.

If you are referring to others linking to you, there should actually
be no problem. They are either doing you a favor, or, most likely
they count for nothing close to a penalty.
