Keyword question - What to do with dual meanings

Hi all,

Here's a question for people who are experienced with keywords and Google. While researching keywords, I found a pretty good niche that I'd like to fully exploit. However, the word can actually have two meanings and I want to know who to believe : Google or Market Samurai.

Here's an example: Let's just say the keyword for the microniche was masks ( I know, I know, that's too big a niche, but bear with me a sec!) when I was researching the niche for "Hockey Equipment". Now, when I examine the SEO competition for "masks" on MS, it appears pretty easy to rank, as mot of the top 10 sites in google were PR 0-1. However, when I researched what Google was paying in Adsense for the keyword, I typed "masks" into SpyFU.com and got a certain amount. However, all the ads that Google would display for the keyword involve ads for a totally different microniche (eg Halloween masks).

So, should I optimise the website for the original niche where MS said that it would be easy to rank for, or should I optimise for the ads that Google would place on my site (according to SpyFU) ?

If you need further clarification, please let me know.

Hope to hear from someone soon!

Best regards,

Diver Doug
