Adsense click values, low?

The amount of clicks on my site as well as CTR has increased quite a bit over the past week.

Last week I was getting ~20 clicks a day and making ~$5 a day. However, I added a large ad on my front page (336 x 280, it's the only ad on this page.) My clicks have gone to 60+ a day, my earnings jumped from $5 - $10 - 15.

The weird part is today. My clicks are currently at 101 and I've made ~$12

So...
20 clicks = ~$5

shouldn't

100 clicks = $25 (actual: $12)

It's like the click values went to about 40% of their original value.

Any ideas? This all with one site though.

It means that you don't have enough backlinks. Gain more exposure for your site and everything will work out for sure.

I'm number one for my two main keywords getting x,xxx from Google per day. So I have a lot of backlinks and my site has been in existence for almost three years. How do backlinks effect click values?

I haven't tried this theory yet, but perhaps it may work for your site. Post an article on your blog very late at night, maybe at midnight or a little late. It's said that the revenue per click generated during the next day is higher, by almost 50%. The advertisers with the highest per click budget show up on top of all the other ads early in the day, but their budget limit is reached more quickly. By the afternoon the higher paying ads shut off until the next day, while the cheaper ads now show up on top of the ad block.Try to observe then.

Traffic is dominantly US (40%), Canada/UK/Aus (35%), Rest of Europe (15%), Everywhere else (10%.)

I guess I could have included a link to my site:

When you receive more clicks daily but with lower CPC, i think you should not be worry about it. The bids are different and maybe change day by day. You should monitor it for some days, then you can judge about it. Its not true that when you receive more clicks, you earn less CPC. Monitor it for some days.

Not sure what you mean by hot, for most of the day when I visited the site, it said 30 - 40 people online.

Its NOT true that when you receive more clicks, you earn less CPC. Then that's good, because if they were related, I'd be sad and feel cheated. My CPC today was $0.11. I never really knew about CPC, so I checked my CPC since August 1. It has dipped quite low like this before. Sometimes as low as $0.05. Dec. 1st it was $0.65 though. If I had that today I would've broken a $100 in a day :x!! Will be monitoring what happens over the next few days.

Thanks for all the input everyone! Side note, my CTR is blasting though, has nearly doubled in a few days.
