Hi Warriors,

If using autoblog plugins like WP-Robot are penalized by Google for duplicate content :

1. Why these plugins sell ?
2. What to do if your site disappeared from ranking in Google by using these plugins ?
3. Is there any plugin or software that post fresh and unique content or protect your site from being penalized ?
4. Is using Uniqufier plugin prevent the site from being penalized ?

It's the old sell shovels instead of shoveling for gold thing. People that make money from selling these tools rarely use them for their own sites.

It's the churn and burn philosophy.

One that you write yourself or have written for you.

For example, thefind.com, at its core, uses a scrapping program to build the bulk of their site. They do quite well SEO-wise in spite of having little original about their site.

Now, if I or some other programmer wrote a similar mega-scrapping site script and sold it here and on other popular IM forums you can bet that it would be slapped down by Google ASAP.

If Google "penalizes" duplicate content, why are there still thousands of article directories out there? Still running and doing just fine. Article directories ENCOURAGE people to take their articles and put them on their sites/blogs to add value to some content already on there. They just need to keep the links in tact.

I really dont think that Articlebase ( one of the largest providers of articles that does the above stated ) would be ranked so high if it was doing something incredibly WRONG. Dont you think so?

I'm not sure there is a penalty for using this program or that this is considered duplicate content. Reading this thread at Google's blog, one might argue that there is value in using a plugin such as this.. as you're providing a common marketplace with one category of items.

As the thread states, "Duplicate content on a site is not grounds for action on that site unless it appears that the intent of the duplicate content is to be deceptive and manipulate search engine results"

Ok.. but does it work? I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try this plugin out without buying it so I tested it. In just over 5 months, I've made a total of $4.23 in AdSense off of all of 11 sites combined and 0 Amazon sales, which I find remarkable, since my Amazon stats show a few thousand clicks sent. Hmmm....

The profits make sense, since my sites are likely pulling the exact content that some what.. 100,000 other sites... are pulling? Despite being indexed, what's the chance of my urls coming up anywhere near the top? Maybe if you can find that elusive Amazon niche... who knows. I'd rather search for those elusive Google niches myself. I think half the websites being sold at flippa these days are created by wprobot3. They're easy to spot after you use the plugin.

I personally won't be putting up anymore of these sites. They just don't seem to work well at all (I've tried popular items and long tail niche items). And.. there's the huge risk of being de-indexed as these plugin sites become more popular. There's already hundreds of thousands of these sites and more being sold everyday, so I'm inclined to believe they'll one day get "x-factored" and disappear from the rankings. Too much trouble to build steady income and see this happen when I get far better results with real blogs containing real content.

The robot plugin also allows you to engage in word substitution, so I'm sure many people are building their lists of substitute words, to make their content appear unique. Again.. far too much work when the overall footprint of these sites is so easy to spot. There will still be those who try it though.. and buy a thousand domains with a robot running them all until the automated content apocalypse happens.

So ultimately, I'll let you decide if it's worth your time to try it.

I think it depends on how good the autoblogging plugin is. I made just shy of $500 month last month on Adsense using the autoblogging plugin Wordpress Magic on eight sites.

You can customize every site to be configured differently, and doesn't use placeholders. This eliminates a lot of the footprints.

But different business models work for different people. There will be lots on WF that scream up and down that autoblogging doesn't work, and others who swear by it. This is just my own experience.
