I am going into a niche with a good keyword domain available. Should I get all 3 or is .com enough? Would it be more worth it to save the extra money to get something like popup domination to build my list?
#buy #net #org

if you are branding then take all 3 .com, .net and .org - develop .com and redirect .net and .org OR you can save your money and reg .com and get hosting with money left over. By the way, people hate pop-ups.

.com is king and always will be. For a niche site, I would definitely go with a .com domain that includes your keyword, preferably at the beginning.

      Get all three.

What's it going to cost you Brad? Less than 30 bucks. Peanuts.

Ask yourself... how you would feel if someone else registered the .org and the .net too and did much better than you in the SERP's?

How would that make you feel? Gutted?

Is that a price worth paying for such a low amount of money? To have a competitor in your niche get one over on you just because you didn't register all three?

If you can get any of the three. Then I would just choose one myself. Then you could save that other 20 and add in a little more and get into the war room here. There is actually a plugin in there that was added not to long ago that does the whole pop up thing and has many other features. So for mw I would just get any one of the available domains it doesnt really matter if it is .com .net or .org. However keep this in mind when making your decission.

.Com domains are mainly used as commercial domains. The .com domains are pretty easy to rank for and if you will be selling a product people tend to trust these much better. .Net on the other hand can be a little more difficult to rank for and people tend to steer clear of these when taking action on a purchase. .Org domains can actually out rank .com domains with less links. Only because most .org are for non profit groups. However people going to .org domains are also less likely to buy anything from a site with this extension but they are good if you are looking to provide information and collect money through it from sites like adsense.

So if you are wanting to sell a product I highly recommend getting the .com and only the .com. You can better use your money else where. Now if you want to completly dominate the front page and link to your main site you can buy all 3 and get 3 front page results for those domains. All with very little effot on your part. You can then use one as your main site and the other 2 as adsense revenue sites. Link the two adsense sites to your main money site and you have 3 front page spots for your main keyword and 2 links back to your site from 2 of those front page slots.

If you are building a brand, then snatch up all 3. Or if not, .com will be the best bet.

For some domains, I actually prefer .me

especially if it's a micro niche blog style site. Just feels more personal.

Go with a .com if you can, if not .net and .org are "all right" fall-backs.

Nowadays, COM is gaining popularity as most of the languages support development of COM objects including Delphi. In future, all the activities of an Operating system and applications would be services provided by COM. So the users can use those services as easily as Plug-And-Play.
In a software, that uses COM objects, we can easily replace an existing COM object with another COM object written in entirely another language as long as the signatures of the methods in both the COM objects remain same. In that case, there will not be any change in the existing software code that uses the COM object.

If money's tight, then obviously just get the .com , but if you feel that this keyword has a lot of potential and can be easily monetized, I'd make every effort to get all 3 domains.

Why? Because with 3 keyword targeted domains, you could potentially rank 3 times on the first page of Google for that term. Imagine the possibilities - you'd basically dominate the first page of Google and capture a lot more traffic for that keyword term.

It depends on why you are asking the question.

If you buy all three would you, as Paulie suggested, build 3 different sites?

Or are you thinking that if you buy them you will simply put redirects on two and it will stop someone else from getting an exact match domain? If you are thinking that way - remember all the other extensions available - .cc .me .org .co.uk etc. It's almost impossible to buy ALL the possible domain extensions of a good keyword.

Building 3 different sites isn't as difficult as it sounds. You can basically designate one site (usually the .com) as the one that has the bulk of the content, and then have all the others link back to the .com (you do not implement them as redirects though).

On the secondary sites, you just want to essentially make them informational sites that have the proper keyword density in their content (nothing too time consuming here, just keyword-rich articles totalling about 1,000 words or so) and have them all link back to your main .com site.

If you can afford it and if you are looking to establish a brand, get all three TLDs and all other TLDs as well, including the country specific TLDs.

I would only buy the .com.If you buy all 3 you might as well buy your keyword hyphen .com because that could also out rank you, so where do you stop.
