Hi there

From what I understand, You make an interesting blog post or page, and people will automatically link to it, thus creating a backlink.

For example, lets say you have a website with funny pictures of animals. A blogger sees one of the pages, writes a post about your site, and includes a link. That would be a "natural backlink."

1) Linkbaiting is a definite winner, but you have to know how to create truly interesting and original content. If this is your vice, by all means, carry on.

2) Reverse engineer your competitors links:
Find the top competitors for your keyword or niche, check out their backlinks.
Steal them by obtaining links from the same sources.

3) Find forums that allow dofollow external links and embed your link into your signature. Now post like crazy.

4) Find blogs that automatically approve comments and that allow for dofollow external links. These can be tricky to find. The Firefox extension nodofollow may help in identifying whether the comment sections of blogs are nofollow or dofollow.

5) Write articles. Post the original on your site and then syndicate and spin. Naturally, your articles will link back to the target site.

There are a few more methods I could think of, but these should be more than enough to get one started.

Firstly natural backlinks are not necessarily anchored with your keyword. Secondly you can make you linkbuilding process natural by adding links from profiles, social bookmarking, web 2.0 creation and commenting on newly added pages of different blogs.

Try to create backlinks from non-profit organization. Helping a non-profit organization is not useful for you company's image but it also create exposures. Just locate few good non-profit organization and they could use your help with web designing for their organization, helping them to organize small events and many things. If you are willing to offer it for free, you can ask for a link back from their website.
You can also submit your website to online local directories and industry-related directories. Submitting to directories is a good way to get many one way links but you have to be careful because you don't want to submit into thousands of directories. Instead of giving link back to your website, it will only hurt your rankings. Make sure the directories are good and spam free. If you could find local directories or industry-related directories, then you can submit your website to them. Getting link back from industry-related online business directories give more link juice than from other unrelated directories.
Or you can try press release submission. It is similar to article writing and the process of submitting is rather same. However, press release is different than an article. There are some requirements to write a good formatted press release. Many press release websites that takes press release from companies, individuals, and websites, but they are accepted only if the press release are written in standard format.

How did I go about attracting backlinks? Doing three things mainly:

- Submitting my posts to social bookmarking sites
- Networking with fellow bloggers
- Guest bloggingther you go

There you go... That's the best part of a natural backlinks

  Linkbaiting =
  1)You create a piece of content that's extremely interesting or controversial.
  This could be an image, an article, a video, an infographic or what-have-you.
  2) Now promote your content a little, add it to some social sites.
  3) Assuming your content was interesting enough, next thing you know, people are linking to you!
  
  This works particularly well for blog posts.
  I believe that the more you linkbait, the better you become at it- especially if you have some creativity to share.

Natural as other people linking for you is not easy. You need to create content WORTH linking too, or a really awesome website that everyone loves and wants to share.

Also I find once you get on top you stay on top, so build the links yourself to start and others will find and link later on.
