Hubpages with Amazon to test niche?

Hi all, newbie to the forum and I must say the info here is incredible!

I help run a small business that is seasonal and going into our winter layoff I wanted to spend the off season learning and getting into IM. I know I want to build my own sites/blogs but as I am having a hard time finding a good niche I was wondering what you experts thought about testing Amazon product niches using hubpages?

I opened an account and wrote a couple of hubs. To test should i make multiple interlinking hubs on the same niche or is 1 or two enough to check demand?

I just don't want to waste time build a big wordpress site unless i know i have the right niche.

my main goal is to create blogs to sell amazon products with a clickbank powered email list on the back end as this seems like a nice combo strategy.

any help would be great, thanks

That's a good idea to test a niche, you can do the same with squidoo as well.
Depends what you will be writing about, but you might have to write some articles and get backlinks to your hub. This way your hub can be on page one of google and you can get traffic.

To tell you the truth, if your learning IM and you already have your own business, why don't you create Hubpages about your business catagory. That way you can write from experience and thus suggest Amazon books or some other related product to promote.

Getting useful statics might take too long, if you end up with the typical small organic traffic, you all only seeing the result for the 60% (?) of the clicks that hub-pages allots you, probably a poor investment to send paid traffic to a hub.

There's an Amazon store plugin for wordpress that quickly builds pages from the Amazon data feed. Might not take you as long as you imagine to make a test wordpress store, if time is as valuable as money to you, you can immediately send ppc traffic to the site to test conversion.

      thanks for the replies.

I don't really have the funds for PPC, but I do have adwords experience from my day job.

I have a blog that i run for my day job but we are out of season at the moment pool and spas not big in December. although I do plan on making some hubs pointing to th at site.

do people make money promoting amazon products on hubpages and squido alone? It seems as though it would be easier to get indexed.

I guess I could just throw together a site with a nice clean theme and start writing, I'm just suffering from niche picking syndrom right now.

I want to write about stuff I am into: music production, fitness, or what i know pools and spas. I feel like i could churn out articles for that stuff but the markets are either too competitive or not profitable online.

Just write about what you know. The niche itself is not a problem. As long as there are several adwords campaigns already going you can be sure that the niche is profitable. What comes into play is competition. This is where you need to choose keywords that are within your capabilities to rank for.

The market itself is not too competitive. You just can't go for the huge keywords yet, just choose long-tailed keywords with weaker competition.

There is a portion of fellow warrior Neil V's plan that may be what you are looking for using hubpages - try this thread.

Throughout the thread he gives advise and strategy using hubpages as a testing device. He also has another thread where the whole strategy is consolidated onto videos for a fee.
