any advice on Wordpress SEO?

looking for SEO advice.. kindly appreciate any help.

I am a warrior forum member and have learned a ton in the 1.5 years I have been viewing.

I have been working on a Wordpress site for 6 months now. I get 500 to 700 hits a day and sometimes 1000 plus but comes back down to 600 average. Made a few hundred bucks...Way better than I expected.

I named my site after a keyword that was unique and a niche. SEAL Grinder PT

It is part of a larger niche "navy seal workout"

I am number 2 on google for my first keyword "seal grinder pt" and on page 12 for "navy seal workout".

many of those on the 1st page of google dont have "navy seal workout" in their website name, but have articles they have posted on their sites that have that those keywords on them.

What I have done ---
in all of my daily post i put "navy seal workout" in the meta description, meta keywords, text in the post, and in the categories so that the name of my link has "navy_seal_workout" in it.

any other suggestions for getting from page 12 to move up the ranks?

thanks in advance for any help... much appreciated.

Well, for one thing I'm thinking 18,000 hits/month is pretty good for a niche that deep, but it never hurts to keep trying. Personally, I think for a small site like this a hands on approach to SEO is probably best. Explore some wider areas related to the niche and hit keywords you haven't explored before. Find some compatible sites/blogs and offer to to do some guest articles/blog entries. Those bring traffic well and Google loves it, too.

One thing I'll mention, too, that might affect your income a bit. Your pages fixed at a wider width than most income blogs. I browse at 1024x768 resolution and it cuts your right sidebar ads off. I strongly suggest setting your page width narrower. There's no sense in missing anybody.

For that matter, it's a little known fact that using a left sidebar gets more actual views to the sidebar. Actual eyescan mapping has shown this is true almost universally. When I do a site with sidebar ads, I always use a left sidebar theme. The most viewed area on the page is the at the top area of the sidebar. Just a thought.

I see you're using Thesis 1.7 - you may want to upgrade to 1.8 and make full use of the SEO features.

Apart from that keep writing and link out to other related articles/blogs wherever you can.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

For what your are trying to all the above recommendations are great. My question is, are you trying to rank for both keywords on the same PAGE or do you have one page optimized for one keyword and a second page optimized for the keyword your trying to increase ranking for?

    Regards,
    Clint

Hi Brad, I did some quick research on your niche and you might want to consider doing a spinoff site with an exact match domain on either "navy seal workout routine" (1900 monthly global searches) or "navy seal fitness" (2900 monthly searches).

Both have .orgs available (navysealfitness.org, for example)... GoDaddy has a $.99 a year domain special going right now with coupon code Holiday99

This, along with a well SEO'd theme and site structure to present your content, is the best leverage you have to move the site to page one for your niche. The competition is just average for that search and there are no exact match domains beyond the #1 result.

Aside from these tips, since you are already using WordPress, you will instantly get a boost to each page on your site with the ClickBump SEO! plugin for WordPress. [Its faster than SEOPressor, is half the cost, includes LSI keywords for every post... and doesn't break your RSS feed ]

Also, if you decide to purchase one of those .orgs and launch a site around it, send me an email and I'll give you a sweet deal on my theme (ClickBump Engine) to get you off on the right foot.

If SEOPressor was working I would recommend that, but it breaks your RSS feed.

You didn't mention anything about your link building so I think you should focus of creating good and relevant content about your new keyword phrase and start building anchor text links.

That should do the job for you.

    1. Title Tags:
    E:G
Home Title: Small Business Search Engine Optimisation
    Post Title: %post_title%
    Page Title: %page_title% | %blog_title%

    2. Meta Tags
    3. Heading Tags
The H1 tag should surround the main heading/title of the page relevant to the content and should be positioned at the top of the content
    4. Permalinks
    5. Site maps

There are many advantages to using sitemaps, for example:
    - they help simplify website navigation for both visitors and search engines
    - they help the search engines accurately index your site content
    - they help advise the search engines how frequently your content changes and when it was last modified
