No More Backlinks? Due to Reddit?!

Recently my site has caught a bunch of flack from the Reddit community. "They've called us scum of the earth" "scumbags" "filth" etc. I'm the CEO at RasiFranks.com and we do social media marketing, and the other day one of our workers sent out messages to some members at Reddit asking them to push some content for us. This caused an uproar in the Reddit community and got a story on the top of Reddit's FP all about us and how bad we are and so on.

Anyways in the hours preceding our site rasifranks.com has seen now more results on google when you search "rasifranks" in fact our results have gone down. And on top of that our backlinks are completely gone. Now I know its not a lot but a few weeks ago we were at something like 60 now at 0 which I'm not too concerned about those 60 but I just want to know if we're able to continue building up backlinks. I don't know how this would even be done. I know people at Reddit make threats about shutting down peoples sites and ruining them and so on but I don't know if there's any way to get back up and backlinking and indexing.

Please anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

You can see people are really against us. If you want to leave your own ideas about what we do let us know. We'd love to hear how a different community takes it.

Social Media users don't like being manipulated. You should have tried harder to avoid the perception of manipulating the results in the Reddit community.

If the managers of Reddit killed your links, then that is within their prerogative to do. They own the store, so they can manage it any way they see fit.

Its not only that...that I would understand. It's the fact that all of our old backlinks are gone.

Ouch - epic fail. Social communities hate being told to do something.

Where does it say you have no links? Nobody can just delete your links, unless you mean links from within reddit?

It was a terrible idea to attempt to manually ask for ratings on a social discovery service.

What your employee should have done is contacted members of the Reddit community that he/she commented alongside and "made friends". Reddit holds meetups so meeting people in person wouldn't have been a bad idea either.
As friendships [would have] grow[n] (over the course of several months, maybe even a year), you'd be able to be bold enough to suggest the idea of helping a specific piece of content up.

    Well, what's done is done.
I applaud your effort in trying to create an effective apology campaign, slapping the Reddit logo right up on your header and using the ms-paint-trollface, but you've dug yourself a hole way too deep to be dug out that way.

Although you have gotten a couple of positive comments, you're not getting back up on Reddit without building yourself a new reputation as a trusted content creator.
    (1) First you have to ask yourself "Do you really want to re-establish your value on the Reddit community?"
Because it's going to take a lot of effort.

    (2) Make sure you have someone who is writer and a decent humorist with prose that is nothing short of spectacular.
You're also going to want a rather visionary designer, with an original (unorthodox) sense of style and acquired taste for web trends.

    (3) Seriously consider redesigning your website. Your current design is minimalistic and simple. There is nothing wrong with this, but you've got to remember what it is you're doing your are rebranding yourself.

    (4) Now I'd advise making an infographic,
Maybe something dedicated to Reddit like
"All about Reddit" with sections like (these are just suggestions)
    "History of Reddit",
    "Reddit and Traffic",
"Why Reddit Wins" (about the altruism of reddit) Reddit #notable contributions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    "Reddit's internal mechanism"
    Et cetera.
So again, you have to ask yourself: is it worth the investment?

Good luck to you- you're going to need it.

Also, if you're an avid reader I recommend the book "Buying In" by Rob Walker to give you a feel of how manipulation of internet consumer behaviour is done (it's marvelously written).
Oh, and here's how I do it, btw

I think they just flagged any Reddit submission that had any relation with his company and had it removed from the community.

Sue 'em for slander and defamation of character and make a big hairy deal about it. That will get you more links than you can imagine.

haha bgmacaw that would be unbelievably awesome! We've actually been throwing around some ideas as to getting back at them in some way. We think the best technique right now is just being calm and being the bigger man compared to their ridiculous comments.

also orvn you make some really good points and you can laugh at our expense some of those comments are really funny. We are definitely going to think of some ways to re-brand and your points will all come up no doubt. I appreciate the feedback and will work with these things to try and re-establish what we had going. All we're going to focus on now is working with our already established clients and do some picking up of this situation in the meantime.

Thanks for all your help so far its made me feel better about the whole thing.

Also, just as a side question. The google results for our site name...just "rasifranks" keeps coming up with a different number of results...like 4,200 then down to like 3190 and jumping around...I always use incognito mode in google so I don't know what else could be effecting it. And again it seems weird a front page top 2 or 3 post on Reddit talking about our site would lead to absolutely no backlinks even from other people like tweeting or other sites picking up on it. :/ just a side note...thanks again guys!

You need to evaluate your own business because spreading this around further really doesn't say any good thing about your business. You advertise that you are a social marketer, include reddit services in your signature and point to a letter you admit you wrote that plainly states

"We don't know how to promote on reddit'

You've already shot yourself in the foot and bringing it up for more people to see is just pointing a gun at the other foot and pulling the trigger.
