Is *any* modification to Adsense code potentially a problem?

Some theme engines utilize your Adsense publisher ID along with a specific ad slot ID and actually rewrite the Adsense script dynamically. I note that the code produced, although functional, is significantly different than the *actual* Adsense code block that is provided in your Adsense account.

My question is: Since the Adsense Terms of Service specify you cannot modify their code, is there the potential for this innocent rewriting of the code to caue problems or an Adsense ban?

That's not really what they mean by modify. You should be fine, they really just want to protect against those who try and manipulate.

Certainly there is no attempt to manipulate by these credible themes, but I was just wondering of the Google bot came around - saw a change to the code - and automagically booted your account. You never know ....
