Nofollow links have the nofollow attribute applied.

In other words, the code for a link which generally looks like this:

    <a href="http ://sitename.com">Anchor Text</a>

    will look like this:

    <a href="http ://sitename.com" rel="nofollow">Anchor Text</a>

Links that have the nofollow attribute applied do not pass trust, reputation or PR to the linked website and Google "says" that it doesn't follow them.

Nofollow links will not be count as backlinks. Google doesn't follow these links. A lot of wordpress blogs are Nofollow.

Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place.

Dofollow Links: There is no need to specify "dofollow" in the structure. Even if you leave it normally, it will be treated as Do Follow. <a href="http://www.techzene.com/">SEO Optimization Google</a>
Nofollow Links: You have to specify the link with "nofollow" tag to make it not to be followed.

      I'll try....

nofollow is code for, google don't use this link. So if you thought that leaving your website info somewhere would help you but that website has the nofollow code then google won't know you've been there. nothing wrong with putting your site there though.

There is no such thing as dofollow. Pure fantasy. The whole term is nauseating.
Many links are ignored without a nofollow.

nofollow does not pass on pagerank. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Does not mean it's not seen, page is indexed, or crawled. Has nothing to do with
      anything else.

This is just more insanity about backlinks.

Get targeted traffic people. Your troubles will be over. A nofollow link on
a great page can get some fantastic targeted traffic.

If people stopped worrying about backlinks, PR, and concentrate on their websites
      more...

I have to agree with Paul we have sites that are ranked in the top 5 without many back links but a ton of content. I am not talking about ridiculous long tailed keyword but competitive keywords. Content is the key in ranking. (Links help shore up your ranking - so work on those as well but don't count on rank with just s**t for content and a ton of links)

        Thanks Paul

do follow links are the ones you want for your site so your site can rank in search engines for seo purposes. No follow back links are links where your site will be linked but it wont affect seo ranking so there's not much use linking to these sites. However there is a discussion as to whether they help your site rank or not.

@paulgl If there are no such thing as do follow so why is it called as do follow link. I agreed with you regarding that many links are ignored without a no follow.

Its not called "do follow" that term does not exist. A followed link is a normal, standard link. so there is, as he says, no such thing as "do follow", you do not tell a search engine to follow the link - its just a link.

I think do follow are the links which Google easily track and no follow are the links which Google will not track and if we have do follow links in my site then it will increase our site PR.

The only difference between the two is that the Search engines only follow the do follow links so it's good for PR while no follow are not followed by the search engines. Thus no follow have not so much value. But a link is a link, the more you have them the more chance you're going to get traffic.

Nofollow backlinks are backlinks which have rel="nofollow" in their html source code and it means the value and pagerank of the current page don't be juiced to the external links. But dofollow links don't have this code and they juice pagerank of the current page to external links too.

Nofollow backlinks are links that your site get from othe websites, but they are valueless to search engines. This might can be competitor websites that liked the content in your website, and wanted to link to it without giving extra power(link)
Dofollow backlinks are the exact opposite. i.e the link are valued by search engines.
If most of the time you use blog commenting as your SEO platform then if you want to know if a blog is a dofollow you need to download SEO for firefox add-on. When you right click it, it will highlight nofollow backlinks.

No-follow is telling search engines not to follow the link. So a link to your site using the no-follow tag does not give your page a ranking boost, although humans can still click through the link. You get the human traffic but not the PageRank boost.
Do-follow is telling search engines to follow the link. So a link to your site using the do-follow tag gives your page a ranking boost; it should rank higher in search engine results.

Nofollow are for not crawling a link by search engine. Dofollow allow search engine to crawl links. Nofollow tag we can use if we are using a link for reference not for crawl. Both are good for human traffic.

it is simple google takes as a simple text to 'no follow' links not take as a link.
and google takes as a backlink to 'do follow' links not take as a text.
