then why not do more research on which keywords pay what, there's no exact formula, only google knows that, if you have keyword elite, you'll easily be able to spot out the high paying ones, I'm clocking out 50 cents to $5, $6, $7, $8 clicks - mind you those are quite rare, but 50 cents to around $1.80 - $2.00 is the norm for me.

I don't think it would help to drop adsense, maybe also use Chitika?

      Hi Lazy,

You should edit your post and remove the CTR. This is a violation of AdSense's TOS and one of the quickest was to get your account revoked.

You will usually get higher CPC if you limit the number of ad units on each page. A single unit gets the highest CPC. This may also reduce the total revenue, but not always, you should test to verify.

Your source of traffic is also a common cause for low CPC. If your traffic source has a historically low purchase rate then your CPC will be smart priced to a very low rate.

Keyword research is definitely a key to getting high paying clicks, but if you've already picked a niche then you might not be able to incorporate higher paying keywords without negatively impacting your CTR.

Just a note also, your CTR is not exactly "awesome". Many Adsense advertisers that are using their sites for making money online are shooting for a 20 - 30% CTR. So, I would do a few things outside of keyword research, which is probably the fastest way to improve your CPC.

        1. Like mentioned above, optimize your ads, and limit the number shown per page. The more ads on the page, the more ads with low CPC are shown on the page. If you have the max allotment of ads on the page and one of those is at the bottom of the article, then that is most likely the lowest paying ad block on the page, and the one that many will click. Start tracking your ads if you're not already, to find out where people are clicking on the ads at. Keep the most clicked block, and get rid of the others for now.

        2. Make sure you have all the pages necessary to get a good quality score. This is most talked about with Adwords to get the cheapest CPC on a landing page, but it's also very important on the Adsense side. You need to have all the supporting pages to make your site look as legitimate and credible as possible. You should have at least a Privacy Policy, Contact Page, and About Us page. I also like to add a Disclaimer page. Your site will be manually reviewed by someone at Google, and if they deem your site is lacking the necessary supporting components, you will get a lower quality score, which means they will pay you less per click than if you had a higher quality score.

        Hope that helps.

PS: Definitely remove your mention of your CTR from the original post. Like was already said, this is against Google's TOS for Adsense, and will get your account closed. Even if the site you're talking about isn't the one in your sig, the site in your sig has Adsense on it, and they will find your account quickly and easily and whammo, you're account is dead.

Yes you are right. I observed that as well. It reduceses cpc when you have much no. of ads on a page.

That's a pretty high CTR. What's your niche? You can try some CPA networks to increase earnings. I don't think adbrite or chitika will do better than adsense.

What a lot of people forget is this:

Insurance, for example, is a high paying AdSense niche. I might have an Adsense site which averages $1 a click. You might create an insurance site and only get $.05 a click or less.

The difference is how well the clicks convert for the advertisers. If your clicks result in few conversions (according to the advertisers who have conversion tracking enabled in adwords), then Google will only supply your site with the lower bid ads. Quality traffic with quality content result in higher conversions for the advertisers.

If you want targetted ads or keyword based ads then I would avoid adbrite - I use it sometimes and the basic expectation is don't expect anything relevant. (If someone knows how to fix this one let me know). However adbrite inline probably doesn't hurt as much - it will highlight words in content - but again don't expect it to relate to your keyword.

I especially enjoy the ones about dating on pages concerning auto-insurance.

However, if relevancy is not an issue - you could also look at bidvertiser - in theory it is meant to give you ads specific to your keywords (and note you can't change this keyword once you've assigned it to your site) but it gets a bit wayward.

      all the best

Law firms pay much more for clicks. I would research that. They're more competitive, but that's the incentive for the big bucks!
