Yahoo Answers - Traffic Source?

I just started targeting Yahoo Answers yesterday by leaving competent answers with a couple links back to my websites that are in the same niche as the original question.

It's only been one day but I am already seeing Adsense clicks from those pages. It seems like those site visitors would be *great candidates* to click through because they obviously are looking for specific information.

What's been the experience of others with Yahoo Answers as a traffic source?

It's fantastic. Relevant, free and not to mention most people looking for answers will definitely pay the *sources* site a visit.

    Works even better when outsourced

I believe Yahoo answers can monetize pretty well, but I am not sure it's worth if we compare time/effort.

It's something I would outsource, but depends on the price and the results delivered.

I have had success using Yahoo answers by promoting specific product from Amazon relating to their question. It does work.

I've seen continuous traffic on my site for Yahoo Answers questions that I answered years ago. It definitely makes a difference in your traffic.

Yes, your suspicions are correct: Yahoo answers is a marvelous natural traffic source!

A good tip is not to answer too many super-recent questions, wait for questions to be at least an hour or two old.

The reason for this is that Answers moderators notice your always linking back to the same set of sites and may flag you as a spammer.
Moderators tend to moderate answers in real-time, i.e.- questions less than an hour old.

      .
Great advice. Thanks for it. I have mostly been searching for questions that are < 3 days old without the required answers, and then searching by keywords relevant to my sites.

I have had some traffic and sales through Yahoo Answers but it died out. It probably depends on the competition/niche.

This is another information which is useful. I will start adding Yahoo Answers to get traffic to my site. And I will also make sure that those answers and question are also related to my site content.

Or answering non related topics will still count?

Two days of answering questions at Yahoo Answers under my belt. I searched an answered specific posts that were relative to my website niches and then left a solid answer to the question with a link(s) to my website.

My Adsense earnings tripled on day one. Maybe it's just a coincidence. But I think not. I'm pretty pleased so far.

The amount of traffic you can potentially receive from any given source is irrelevant and should be the least of your worries. What you should be concerned about is whether that traffic is converting and making you money.

Having a website that gets 5 billion visitors a day doesn't mean jack if that traffic isn't converting and paying dividends.

I agree Chris. But for many of us the first steps are just getting some traffic to our websites. We can't even think about converting unless someone's visting. Just saying.

Personally I've found it a very useful source of traffic. In most cases it can be difficult to justify the initial time versus reward but in some situations questions within Yahoo answers rank very highly within Google.
When this happens and you have a prominent link (or preferably "best answer" with link within it) within the page you can benefit from a lot of constant traffic.
Yahoo Answers was one of the big winners from the Google Panda update ( Google Farmer Update: Who ) so it has meant even more traffic which you can get referred to your own site.

I think traffic from Yahoo is good for ecommarce sites. People use Yahoo Answer for knowing the experience of people using goods and also getting solution for their problem. That place is really very potential.

Very careful. Yahoo answers never encourage you to post spam answers they disable the account immediately. Once I crossed level 3 But posted daily 2 links of my website and they disabled the account. Right now, again I reached level -3 and posting answers very carefully.

my answers are still there and 2+ years later still generate leads..... yes it works, but if your in a niche with haters you will be locked out sooner than later.
