Is it exact number of daily searches? I don't think so. But if it has, its so simple. Make some backlinks for your website. For example write some articles and submit them to quality article directories, submit your pages to social bookmarking websites. Comment on some blogs and with about 2 months of work, if the situation of your competitor is like what you said, you can outrank it easily.

You can't be 100% sure, some clever webmasters block Yahoo Bot to prevent Y! SiteExplorer from their BL indexing.

Use more sophisticated sites like: majesticseo.com

Agreed, but by the sounds of it you've found a nice little niche, supplying the keyword is a 'buying keyword', you should be able to make a lot of money from it, you shouldn't be worrying too much about the #1 spot right now, you want to get on to the first page, so get some stats for the first page competition, if the sites are all weaker then the #1 spot, then it seems logical to get started right now on this new keyword.

Just build up a site, make sure it has some good content, do the basic stuff, on-page optimiazation, social bookmarking, directory submissions, rss submissions, etc. Then move on to link building, I'd suggest you submit a few decent articles to ezinearticles, then do some blog commenting, perhaps spice it up with some forum profile, then just do that every day and you should see yourself ranking for the keyword quite quickly.

Traffic Travis really is an awesome tool (this is an unbiased opinion). Strategy you say? Start building links using those keywords mate

Some really great answers on here pal, and I would use them all if I were you. It isnt about doing anything special - just stick to the solid basics of quality relevant link building, good on page seo, good content, regular updates on site with content, article marketing, good links with anchor text and you will be golden.

Sometime if their domain has lots of age google will give it more credability than a brand new one as well - so that could be a factor also.

    Hey,

I have some conflicting stats with Traffic Travis and the amount of Global monthly search (exact). The stats don't match up?

"Keyword" 22443 daily searches in Traffic Travis and

    "Keyword" 880 Global monthly searches!

    This would not calculate right?

Traffic Travis must be wrong -- help please!

Just to clear things up, Traffic Travis uses a different system in gathering its keyword suggestions and in tracking its approximate search count. Google's keyword tool is the one that's having irregularities at the moment, but of course they are still the most reliable source when it comes to trending KW (I was able to talk with one of Traffic Travis' developer just the other day), they are currently using SEMrush's data in determining search counts.

    My suggestion would be:

    1. Get some more accurate data to make sure it worth it... use the google keyword tool, find exact match monthly local (US) traffic for the your keyword along with CPC... 17000 traffic/day sound a bit excessive for a low competition keyword.

    2. Analyse the top 10... using market samurai or the free tool Niche Market Finder. As long as it's mostly "green" and "yellow" instead of "red" in the top ten you should be fine

    3. Buy the exact keyword domain or something close to it... slap up several pages of SEO refined content... build several thousand links from directories, articles submissions, blog posts, social bookmarking... high PR, dofollow links are the best.

Take baby steps... aim for Page 1 first off, and then eventually aim for No 1.

  • Sounds like you're hot my friend. Whats the phrase to broad match ratio on your keyword your ranking for? You are now getting to the point of seeing if there is any money in that keyword.

I have my own physical products I promote and I've ranked on 1st page of Google for a lot of keywords. Some with competition of over 8 million broad match pages. I rank 3 pages or more in the top 10 for some. That's what I thought I had to do to make lots of money.

Well let me tell you getting to page one is just the beginning. Yes I make sales but not what I'd like to see.

Make sure that you have a sight that will convert and that the keywords are buying keywords. I get a lot of info seekers looking at my content not many buyers so far. I also sell my product line directly offline and that's what brings home the bacon for now.

I have found that SEO isn't that difficult to get results however every marketer knows that Traffic + Conversions = Sales. The more targeted the traffic obviously the better.

Once again good work but the real work may just be beginning. Best of luck!
