No links from article directories

Hi Warriors,

I have published three articles to eight article directories two weeks back. I used the same articles for all directories since my target is to get backlinks.
Sometimes I am using two links to my site in the same resource box, one will link to my Home page and the other to another page on my site.

When calculating the links I should see at least 24 links to my site (counting only 1 link per directory for each article).

However, when I checked my links through Google's Webmaster Tools I only found that Ezine is backlinking to my site. Does anybody have a clue?

The article directories are: Ezine, Go Articles, Article Base, Amazines, Article Rich, The Free Library, Sooper Article, and Article Blast.

Do remember that the Webmaster Tools link section doesn't give you ALL the links - it's Google being obtuse. You should definitely try the Yahoo Site Explorer tool too (most easily used via the SEOQuake toolbar).

But also it's not at all unusual for backlinks to take a pretty long time to show up and for their juice to start affecting your rankings. You could ask the same question in the SEO section for more expert opinion (hmm, or a whole bunch of conflicting opinion, more like!) but I would say 2 weeks is not at all a long time for things to start happening. Check in another 2 weeks, patience is the name of the game. I know that a backlink I put up today isn't going to affect my site for WEEKS probably.

Having said that Google DOES also seem to have some kind of fast-track for breaking news etc. whereby if the entire Internet is linking to some page on a particular day then there's obviously something going on with that page. But this tends to be more temporary in nature, and doesn't apply in your case.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

and some of those directories you listed may be no follow. Again, 2 weeks is not that much time.

Even if the links are nofollow, they are counting as backlinks. You can check it for your websites in Google webmaster tools. You will see backlinks which have nofollow rel but Google shows them as backlinks for your domains.

To ping a backlink, you simply take the url where you posted your backlink and submit it to ping services such as pingomatic.com and pingoat.com. You might just as well ping your own site when you're doing it...

Your website <----- ping that URL
Backlink to your website, posted somewhere on the web <----- ping that URL

To know if a link is nofollow, look in the HTML-source of the page where your link is. If it says nofollow in the <a>-tag, then its a nofollow, otherwise its a dofollow (by default).

It's way too short, by Webmasters Tools standards. Expect to wait about 2 months before they pop up there. The backlink is counted, not to worry.

If you are so paranoid about your backlink not showing, you can always ping the article link...

But imo, it's just a waste of time.

You hear about Matt Cutts saying Google bot is capable of crawling into anywhere bla bla bla in the Youtube vids.

I won't worry too much about this if I were you.

But I did observe other article directories don't get indexed... So stick with the top directories that Google "loves".
