Hi Warriors and Happy Holidays!

Question for those of you who do SEO for local offline businesses. I am fairly new to the world of SEO and the only service I'm offering right now is just a linking campaign to bump the business to page 1. Now, I've noticed that Google SERPS now display a map and local listing directory as it were, even for businesses who are not on page 1. How would one go about getting a business to the top of the local results directory as well?

Up until now, those local business spots were more like first come first serve. You ideally will make your listing visible on page 1 if you are in the top seven spots. Otherwise you will be shoved under the link that says "more listings." The best thing you can do is offer Google Business Listings the most information you can. Make sure that it is all true, add a site url, email, business address, images, tags, keywords, etc. I once heard a rumor that they started listings with the business that was closest to the post office in that area and worked their way out.

the best possible way to start with is google map marketing and after that profile based marketing for different online business suit that is relevant with your business.

Just fill out your Google places profile, get some reviews and then get 5 or more ratings on your location.

Five+ ratings means that you'll have stars appearing next to your search result.

Make sure you have a phone number immediately visible. Nice photos and special coupons work great.

If you have multiple locations, set up places locations for all of them: this search is often proximity based for logged-in Google account users.

I think it was April of this year the map listings became 'places' and has been the core of what us 'offline people' offer local businesses.

Higher organic search rank seems to push businesses higher in google places so keep working at getting them to position one.

Do everything ORVN said - get ratings, reviews and upload all the photos and videos you can. Get the business employees to ask for ratings and reviews along w/the link to their places page in the signature of every email they send from their office.

Get the business name, city and state in the title of your home page.

Add categories for each of the terms you want to be listed.

It's appears to be based on
      1) proximity
      2) backlinks to site
      3) rating
      4) review quantity
      5) clicks
