filler words in searches
- SEO |
I've got a question on how what you could call filler or unimportant words in a keyword phrase affect it's rankability. Words like 'for' or 'with', etc.
I'll give an example of what I mean.
Let's say you're researching into "black widget". Obviously "black widget" as a two-word phrase in the popular widget niche has good volume, but major competition. Even when you phrase it in Google there's still xxx,xxx pages. You see, however, that a lot of people search for "black widget for gadget". Black widget for gadget, without the quotes, obviously still has a lot of competition as the gadget concerned is very popular as is the black widget. The "for" there or not barely makes a dent in broad. But when you phrase the keyword phrase so it's "black widget for gadget", you see that there are few pages that have that phrase in that order, meaning the "for" modifies page results quite a lot. When I use allintitle, there's only low xxx pages.
So is this some kind of illusion or do little filler words like that have an affect? Like "black widget gadget" would be impossible to rank for, but "black widget for gadget" would be an easier target if I optimize the site for "black widget for gadget" and have the domain with that little word 'for' in it -- blackwidgetforgadget.com.
Would appreciate your thoughts on that. Thanks.
