Hello

Could someone explain me clear and fast what the difference is between AllInTitle vs InTitle? I already Googled it but I still do not understand it.

Thank you very much!

    Hi,

An allintitle search is like doing an exact phrase match search in which
you use quotes around your keywords. It returns instances where the
    exact phrase is used.

So an allintitle search such as, allintitle:keyword tools, will return results
with both words used in the page titles. It's like an exact phrase match
    search for page titles.

An intitle search with the same phrase, intitle:keyword tools, will return
results with 'keyword' in the title, but 'tools' can be anywhere else on
the page - including the title. If 'tools' is not mentioned on the page or
in the title but 'keyword' is in the title, then it will still return that page.

    Does that help?

So allintitle:my awesome product is equal to intitle:"my awesome product"?

And is with intitle always the first word in the title?

      Thanks for the help!

I don't know and haven't tried it. I gave the analogy of a regular search using
quote marks to emphasize that allintitle is "like" an exact phrase regular search.

And is with intitle always the first word in the title?

        Yes.

So is doing an allintitle:"keyword tools" (with quotes) redundant? That's how I used to use allintitle before.

No. Including the quotes will return results in that exact order. Without quotes can be a different order but sill in title.

If I do a search for allintitle:internet marketing and click on pages after page 10 (this varies) of the serps, the order may change. However, with the search allintitle:"internet marketing" the order does not change. At least that's my results. Check for yourself.

allintitle would give you accurate search while intitle would give you any of the word from any phrase.

Either way, those strings shouldn't be used to measure competition anyway. All the ebooks and guides and reports that push a particular number of competing pages or allintitle number, etc. don't know what they're talking about - just look at what's on page 1!

intitle:"with quotes" and an allintitle:"with quotes" will produce the same results, but remove the quotes and the results on each will be different.

intitle looks for any of the keywords in the title and not necessarily all the keywords but by adding quotes that then changes things up.

allintitle looks for all of the keywords in the title in any order and adding quotes tells it they have to be in the order you entered them.

I personally never use intitle and always use allintitle for checking competition. It is good for doing quick preliminary checks but before I decide on a keyword I also recommend checking the top 10 results for PR and backlinks.
