I'v outsourced the SEO on many customer sites over the years, but I'd like to do a personal site myself just to get more familar with what is being done and how the process goes specifically for Backlinks.

Can some of you list Must Do site that you create Backlinks on?

URL's
Blogs
Social Sites
Directories
etc.

I think a good start would be to get scrapebox, I've been doing it manually too ince a couple weeks ago, and its a HUGE time saver. Its a great tool to find relevant blogs/forums.

It does ALOT, it can scrape URL, check PR, post to a massive amount of blogs in a short time span. A a lot more. I use it to scrape high PR relevant forums/blogs though, and post manually though.

so would this tool be able to do the same things as market samurai as an example? in regards to finding high PR relevant forums/blogs requiring manual posting?

I am most likely mistaken, but isn't pinging almost automatic with word press when you configure things properly?

I've heard it mentioned many times, but what exactly is social bookmarking?

    Warning - Newbie questions:

    1) When you fill out the fields to leave a blog comment, is the back link what you put in the website field, or do you put the url in with your text in the comments box. Most say no html in the comments box...?

    2) do you have to put an accurate email in the email box? Do most send a confirmation email before your comment is posted?

I just want to make sure I'm getting this right. You offer SEO services to other people but you have no idea how to do it yourself??

    Am I reading that right?

    Yup!

I understand the basics just, just don't do it personally.

I also outsource logo design, asp programming, database work, etc. and couldn't do any of those either.

I'm a good salesman & project manager. Customers get what they want and love me. What's the problem?

So...if a client has questions...do they ask you or who you outsource the work to?

        Me of course.

It's just easier to have contractors then full time employees. It let's me offer more services then I could otherwise.

That is so wrong in so many ways. Imagine hiring an electrician and after he did your house wiring you find out he isn't even an electrician himself. How betrayed do you think you'd feel. You'd feel scammed. You'd want a licensed electrician to come over and make sure it was done right.

What makes this any different? A good project manager should know at least the basics. You don't even know that!!
How do you know if the services you contract out are worth their money or not if you don't know anything. You could be getting screwed over on prices and not even know it, because you don't know what constitutes a good service or a bad service.

      Just blows me away. Unbelievable.

And I'd wonder how you would feel if that same electrician came to your house and did a great job and charged reasonably because the guy running the business knew how to hire the right talent and knew how to run a business efficiently with excellent customer service.

BTW, our average customer has been with us for >3 years and almost all new business is from referrals because our customers are very pleased. We also grossed over $350k this year. How did your 1 man show business do?

So I guess Microsoft should close because Bill Gates hasn't written a line of code in over 20 years..

        Moron!

Ya yes the personal name calling begins. Funny how incompetant people resort to name calling when their called out, as well as try and impress people with so called numbers. Makes me laugh every time.

Nothing wrong with what he does there. He is simply outsourcing the tasks. Some people are good at some stuff and others not so good, give the guy a break.

I was under the impression that scrapebox is a mass spamming tool. Can one use it to post "meaningful" content to internet specially blog commenting?
