hi i would like to know if i submit articles to different article directories will they help you outrank a link from a ranked website.

reason being, i could get some links from some ranked websites but not all and was wondering if multiple article directory submissions would compliment.

what i like about the article directories is the control over the anchor text, it seems like you can rank for anything.

am i on the ball here with this?

appreciated warriors,

JMO but a link from a ranked website would hold more weight. If it's ranking in Google they obviously hold some weight with Google. Article directory submissions would fall into the category of "Forced" links, like searchengine directory submissions, bookmarking, profile links, forum signatures, etc. If you had enough links maybe, but link for link I think the ranked websites link would hold more weight.

Links have to be found, then matter.

An ezinearticle would have PR n/a at first, then who knows until it gets some love?
You can't fool anybody with anchor text if it does not fit, google or the editor of
your article. Why do you think this is some magic for ranking "anything" as you
      put it?

I think people are under the notion that any link is instantly found and counted.
They're not. Some never get found. Many are ignored.

The high PR, relevant site will give you much more juice in the long run.
      And the short term.

Article submission is something I do whenever I have exhausted my day of doing
stuff that counts now. Since that never happens, I don't even worry about article
      submissions anymore.

        Hey Paul,

How do you build your links? Would appreciate to know the strategy and how to get links from high PR sites since that's hard to get.

If you submit your articles on some standard article sites with good cache rate, then it is possible to beat the competitors. But it is a time consuming process, specially when your website is new. So, it is better to collect links from some other sources as well. like forum posting, press release submissions, blog posing, blog commenting etc.

In my opinion it doesn't really matter. In neither case do you get link juice from the homepage unless you article is displayed on the home page which is usually a brief phenomenon.

If you are talking about site-wide links from ranked websites, then I would go that route. Article directory links are almost worthless unless you article is picked up by a high ranking website and your article link happen to appear on a page with high PR.

Well, as they say, don't be to conserned about pagerank. If you check the pageranks on the word you compete on you often so low page rank sites ranking higher in google than you. And this you can't fix by just doing onpage optimization, which seems to say that the relevancy of links matter. And by writing the articles youself you should be able to get that on the page (if not on the site) so I think it is worthwhile although I haven't gotten around to it myself.
