Asking for Backlinks

I am looking at a few .org blogs and wondering if asking "contact us" for a small text backlink or paying for a backlink would be a good idea?

Do any of you use a standard letter/email when asking or asking to pay for a backlink from a site?

If one were to pay what would be a could price point to start at? monthly/yearly.

I am only really looking at PR4 and up .org blogs (sidebar) or (footer)

    Why exactly are you looking for only .org blogs? And why are you going after links in the sidebar or footer? Sidebar/footer links are the worst with regards to ranking power and if you're going to be paying for a link, you should definitely be shooting for a contextual one.

    If it were me, I wouldn't pay more than $5/month for a link...but that's just me. There are just too many services out there offering far more and better links for a much better monthly price.

      sidebar and footer because the link will appear on every page. I am to assume this will make more backlinks?

      .org because it is said to be worth more then a .com. I have nothing against .com...etc just trying to build backlinks in all extensions.

        I would of thought .com would be better then .org??? .org is generally for non profit organizations, In my opinion even .net is better then .org.

          @Mgpweb.. You are prob. right. I guess I was looking at .org for the charity sites.

            I wouldn't use a template email for this. Make your email sound personal and sincere. Even if you send the same email to 100 sites, that is much better than sending a boring template email to thousands of sites asking for a back link.

            If I get an email with a request for a back link to one of my sites, and it looks or feels spammy, I just ignore it. A personal email that looks like it was written especially for me will get me to respond much faster than a boring template email.

    Backlinks can be generated by using the SEO off page optimization for the backlinks for the site also increases the PR of the site which increases the visitors to the site also increases traffic to the site which is used for the marketing also.That also promotes the site in the globe.
