How can I get more traffic from Australia?

by RahulNag 16 replies
My information product website has only a small percentage of visitors from Australia (less than 5%) however the conversion rate has been as much as 2% in certain months?

What strategies would you recommend to increase traffic specifically from Australia?

The majority of traffic currently comes from Google Australia but I am thinking of PR, trying to get links from Australian relevant websites etc.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like a good idea actually.

You have to make sure your rankings on the Australian search-engines are high enough to receive traffic. Reset all of your browser settings and then go to Google Australia to find out.

Another thing that can get you a lot of traffic from Australia is writing for Australian blogs and/or participating on Australian forums with quality content/comments.

You could try ppc, look for forums and blogs that are from Australia, also search for directories in Australia where you can submit your blog or site.

I have several websites ranked highly in Australian google, and have made a bunch of money from those rankings as Australians seem to have no problem spending money and paying $40 for shipping if need be the truth, though, is that I literally have no idea how I got ranked in AU google. I have 9 sites in the niche, 3 have high Au rankings, the others have none. So my only advice is to build a $hitload of sites in the same niche, works like a charm. Kind of like throwing $hit at the wall, somethings gonna stick

use Australia resources for your website promotion. and buy a .au domain which would redirect to your own.

Won't be that easy to just register a .com.au if you're not an Australian...here's the requirements to register a .com.au domain:

      1. To be eligible for a domain name com.au, registrants must be:
      a) an Australian registered company; or
      b) trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory; or
      c) an Australian partnership or sole trader; or
      d) a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia; or
      e) an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
      f) an applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
      g) an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
      h) an Australian commercial statutory body.

      Cheers

Have you tried asking your friends in your community to spread the news about your website? There are times when that tactic really works. Sometimes, simply asking for one thing can really do a lot for you. You can also try social media. I bet you have tons of contacts there that can help you out.
