Physical products question with keywords and # of pages returned in Google search.

I'm taking on some niches that I identified would be good for me to start out in the IM world on.

I picked a specific product and determined that it has some decent search volume... atleast 3000 global per month. I also check the backlinks of the competition for that specific product in Market Samurai. The whole column under BLP (blacklinks to the page) is completely green. So this looks good to me!

Now my question is... should I take into consideration how many pages come back on a google search? For example... If I search for a specific physical product inside quotation marks and I get back like 100K+ results. Would this product be something to avoid in this case?

or should I not worry about how many pages come back on the search because all I have to do is build backlinks naturally and get quality content going because I can assume I'll eventually out rank most of those pages... especially if there isn't much backlinking going on for the top 10.

I ask this because I saw a little video that said awesome keywords are ones with like 1000+ search volume and under 10k pages in a search result. But I'm not sure if this applies to specific physical products?

Any help would be great!

The amount of online competition won't make any difference whether or not the product is psychical or digital. all that matters is the online competition in this case.

One thing that I would review before entering this niche is taking a close look at the first page of results in an effort to try and gauge the competition. If you see Target, Walmart, Amazon all in the top 10 results. It's probably going to be stiff competition and a lot of grinding it out.

    Good luck!

But if my site is more "niche" than even Amazon, Walmart or Target for that specific product... I should be able to out rank them or atleast complete with them in time, right ?
