Google cache update and SERP

I saw today that certain pages on my blog are in Google's catch in the versions from around 15 December. Since then, I've created a lot of new quality backlinks to those pages.

Does this mean that when Google crawls these pages on my blog again and the cache gets updated, I can expect an increase in SERP for these pages for the specific keywords they're targeting?

    No, cache is something totally different and wouldn't play any role with the SERPs.

    Only thing it means is Google sees that web page as it looked on 15 December. If you don't ever change your web page then why would Google ever update the cache? You mention adding links but not updating content.

    December 15th cache isn't a good indicator at all.

    Are you building new content? What type of content is currently on your site? Is it rehashed spun to death PLR content or original content? What type of backlink building? How well is your site indexed?

    There's an underlying problem here as a December 15 cache is bad!

    A little trick you can use to keep the Google Cache date fresh is to add a blogroll from external sites in your sidebar (no javascript). Anytime your friends in the blogroll update their site/content, Google will pick up the new content in the sidebar & most times update the Cache because they think your page has been updated with new content.

    This same trick is a good way to trail your competition in the SERPs anytime they create a new blog page. It helps pick up new traffic in the SERPs.

      Google cache date was used a lot by some SEO Tools, because of that some people think that Google has manipulated the Google Cache date. Similar as they also do not display all the backlink data they have.

      Its not a good metric anymore.
