I think it is possible as long as you will strengthen your SEO campaign on your blog site.

Yes it can, as long as you can make search engines see that your blogger blog is very relevant to your targeted search terms (through link building and content strategy)

I try to use blogger and add a meta description and keyword. With a script generating tool from the website.

There is a great video tutorial for you to follow step by step on how to put a meta description and keyword on your blogger.com blog and increase your chance in the search engine.

here just try to search on youtube this keyword:

"how to seo blogger with custom meta and title tags"

the first one will come up watch it immediately.

Please thank me. Please don't react a bad feedback or I will report you.

You do need to look at creating multiple accounts
Blogger bans for numerous reasons some very whimsical
Nothing worse then seeing 20 blogs (1 hrs work) Gone in one movement
I have trod this path so I know only post 1 or 2 posts a day to each blog.

    Hi Joe.

As someone who's been using Blogger for 2 years, I can tell you one thing.

In many cases blogger blogs rank #1. For example moneymakerinfo(dot)blogspot(dot)com ranked #1 for...wait for it...Make Money Online!

And definitely there are WP, Joomla, Drupal and god knows what sites in that niche.

The example I chose has a lot of significance.

Google may delete your blog without a blink, and it did the same with the above blogger site.

The guy was earning thousands of dollars with direct ads!

And after appeals from several bloggers, his site was restored only to be completely, and apparently permanently de-indexed, by Google and Yahoo.

That too when the blog had PageRank 5

Now you are free to draw your conclusions.

Using Blogger blogs like this used to be a good plan up until about 18 months ago. Then Google started getting more aggressive and hamhanded at taking out blogs. While it was a good idea to get rid of automated splogs and link farms, they had a huge amount of collateral damage, taking out completely innocent unmonetized/un-SEO'ed personal blogs and such. They've continued in this arbitrary practice and made the site quite user unfriendly for everybody.

This was also my goal in the beginning of ny internet career. To build many free blogger blogs and then get visitors to click on my adsense ads. But it was harder than it seems. But of course, it's possible that a blogger blog will outrank a wordpress blog but you'll have to do a little bit more SEO with a blogger blog.

With a wordpress blog you can easily install some SEO plugins that can help you rank well in google. This benefit will you not have with a blogger blog.

You can check it out yourself! Just install the WebRank Toolbar and you can check the links, indexed pages, popular site ranks etc. for all domains.

btw the site is live now, just de-indexed and dormant.

Look at the right and the bottom of the blog. There are tens of links to sponsor sites.

These are site-wide on each page.

Then there might be something I have no clue about but Google does

It's what I like to call the STFU penalty. It's a manual penalty given out by Google when they don't like what you're doing or saying because it makes them look bad in some way and your site(s) are popular with a decent sized following.

The platform used to render a site is irrelevant to the search engines. All they see is the HTML. They could care less whether it is a blogger site, WP site, Joomla Site, .NET site, PHP site, or pure HTML. It is the resulting HTML that gets rendered to the browser (and crawlers) that will determine how the site scores on the on-page/on-site ranking factors.

So when it comes to blogs and CMSs, it's generally the Theme/Template (and any widgets/components) you use to render the HTML that are going to determine just how SEO friendly the site is.

So any platform "can" be SEO friendly. And ALL of those same platforms can be SEO unfriendly if the theme/template and widgets/components that render the HTML are poorly written.

Why do you think google loves wordpress? Where did that idea come from?
They like good websites. Period. Wordpress, blogspot, etc.

Why would google penalize their own product in SERPs? Yes, as Bgmacaw
says, they may delete blogs. But that has nothing to do with you ranking
a blog. I have more blogpsot blogs high up than wordpress.

Blogger comes SEO'd right out of the box. Plus it has the power of google.

The question, if people really thought, would be can a wordpress beat
a blogger? Does google give special juice to blogger because they
own it? But that would make no sense either.

Well, I take that back. If you want a video to show, it had better be
      on a google product: youtube.

But that's not how websites are judged for SERPs.

    You ARE kidding me right.

Whichever has most content, best content, and maybe a few decent inbound links might help too. I have blogger blogs that are great and perform, and blogger blogs that suck sh*t. I have Wordpress blogs that are great and perform, and Wordpress blogs that suck sh*t. It comes down to how much effort you put into it.

What really drives me crazy with all this speculation is that there are no real general comparisons that will stick between domains. Google's algo judges a site with over 500 million points of criteria.

Did you know that bounce rate is now one of the biggest factors in judging a page?
Did you know that a blog that has 1 "long and strong" a week doesn't need ANY inbound links to win the SE battle against another blog with weak content and allot of links.

I've started comparing bounce rates on all of our blogs after the G's last algo update, and it was amazing to see that my blogs that had the lower bounce rates were the ones that were getting the most traffic.

Link chasing and trying to figure out which blog platform to use is ridiculous.

I'm so glad that Google is judging pages more on bounce rate because THAT point of criteria CANNOT be gamed. You can't make your visitors pretend to stay on your page(s). You HAVE to have compelling content to keep them there reading.

So in the end - the best, and most fluent writers win.

When friends ask me what they should do to increase their online traffic from search engine users, I always say the same thing - "Learn to type fast, read more books, and write more posts."

In the end the webmasters that learn to write well are going to get the traffic and the profit.

Just like Steve - the day I stopped gaming the search engines, stopped "linking" PERIOD, and just focused on writing, was the day I started making money.

Yeah, sure it can. Any free blog platform can rank well if SEOed right. With Google owning Blogger they are not going to stop their own users from showing up.

My idea is trying to build one monster blog instead of launching dozens of minor ones and then not having enough time to promote them. While searching the net, you will find some people who are earning hundreds or even thousands of dollars from their single blogs and they are dedicating hours of time to them everyday. In the long term this method will work out better than trying to build contents and links for several sites.
