CTR stands for Click Through Ratio. That is the number of people who click on your ad and visit your website.

Example: If your CTR is 2% that would mean for every 100 times your ad is shown, you are getting an average of 2 people clicking on that ad and visiting your website. Obviously the higher your CTR the better. Google will reward you with cheaper clicks as your CTR gets higher.

Google Analytics is an unbelievably great tool for evaluating all the traffic coming in to your website and it can supply you with a colossal (and often baffling) amount of detail that can help you to re-work the design of your site to gain more visitors, and drive them to the areas of your site that you want them to go.

True, but what's that got to do with CTR?

As WillR says it is a measure of how effective your ads are. Google only gets paid (as do you) when someone clicks the ad.

If your ad is highly attractive to the clicking public Google makes more money, the advertiser gets more clicks so he spends more money.

So your ad needs to be engaging and relevant, relevance plays a part here as Google wants the people who click to get the information they are looking for.

Your reward is a reduced cost for posting ads. IMHO Adwords is too costly and highly dubious for any long term business. People have had accounts terminated for all sorts of bizarre reasons with no appeal.

I have used adfonic which targets mobile phone users for less money and better results or try Facebook ads as FB seems to be taking over the world now.

I always check for that with such a low post count but the OP has no signature links.

CTR defines as Clickthrough rate- it is the number of clicks you ad receives divided by the number of times you ad is shown(impressions). Your ad and keyword each have their own CTR's , unique to your own performance.

Of note is that it is against Google TOS to talk directly about your CTR online or otherwise, this can get you banned as an example if you talk about your CTR ratio on here and have a link to your site in your signature.

I’d guess Google monitors this forum so don’t discuss your CTR or risk a ban for a simple infringement.
