Improving my on page SEO?

Here's a tip. Collect all sites in the first page of your keywords search results and check how many words in their title, meta tags, first line after the body, number of keywords in the content and footer, the use of alt, bold text and speed of your server. Soon you'll get the first page. Of course, off-site SEO is more important.

Yeah you need to analyze what the top sites are doing and then do it better than them.

Differentiate each top sites and determine the possibilities of their rankings. This is my minor concerns I am more into off page optimization.

Can anyone give me some more precise answers. I have checked the competition sites and viewed thier source for titles, meta decriptions meta keywords, and my site has what they have but my site is no where to be found. I relize I need to build some backlinks but i want my on page SEO sorted out first. I´d suggest using less pictures and HTML stuff in the posts and pages and adding more words instead. Google loves LONG documents because the contain better information. Regarding the other on page factors: Heck, there´s so much to do man, you´ll have to improve your on page SEO in all reviews, write new ones to make it "Google friendly".

add some key words mate tags and description and google webmaster coding... its will help to google crawl your site... have a success....

The meta keyword tag is now useless, google has said that they ignore it now because people would use it to kw stuff

The meta description, on the other hand is very important.

For your site wide meta description, use your primary keyword in the beginning. Use a secondary kw as well, but remember to keep around 160-175 characters, not words, google won't read more than that.

Then do the some for each page and post. Use you the kw you're targeting in the title of each page/post as well as the first and last paragraph or sentence.

Put your kw in Hi/H2/H3 tags as well on your pages/posts.

Interlink your pages and posts using kw anchor text.

You need to remember, the spiders are idiots, you need to feed them info on what your site is about. But you need to feed it to them in the correct form, some of which is stated above.

I am sure every time you speak to someone else, you will get a different opinion. To be honest they could all be right, because there are so many ways to do it.

However from my experiences I have some helpful points that have served me well:

1) 9 times out of 10 the battle is lost before you even set up your site, I mean the keywords you use - Make sure that your main keyword has a high chance of ranking.

2) If you are a newbie, go for low hanging fruit keywords that require the minimum off page effort.

3) From your keyword research focus your site and front page on one keyword and create a 'Keyword optimized' front page, it can be static or sticky post. I am not saying not to target more than one keyword full stop in the site, but your front page should be focussed on one main keyword that you wish to fight for! Your other pages can tackle the other keywords.

4) Make sure your images use the "alt' tag reflecting your main keyword.

5) As mentioned earlier in another response, go for long copy, but not just any long copy... optimize the copy with your main keyword and supporting LSI keywords. If you are not sure what LSI is, just put your keyword into the free google keyword tool and look at 'relevant' keywords that come up. The objective is not to spam out the page, but appear highly relevant, that's what the search engines want, relevant content.

6) Remember this, your copy's main job is to 'convert' your visitor, so think about what they are looking for, and look at your competition. Remember we need to please the search engine, but the bottom line is a human will convert and pay for your hard efforts on a computer every night putting these sites together, I know cause we are all in the same business

7) Try and make your keyword density between 2-3%.

8) Have a 'H1' tag with your main keyword in it

9) Have a 'H2' tag with your main keyword in it.

10) Also include a H3 tag.

11) Include an external link ('No follow') to a high reputation site, like wikipedia, etc

12) Have internal links to other inner pages throughout.

Ok, enough of me going on, I wish you all the best - honestly don't get too bogged down with it, I find you get the best results throwing mud at the wall and seeing what sticks, then scaling the winners from your own experiences.

I have had much great tips from this forum to get me on my way, so I Hope this helped a bit.

The key is to try and get your keywords in the url (if possible), title, description and heading. This will go a long way to improve your on page seo.

Why you dont try the free google tools, i think they have some page optimizer tools also

I think adding some key words meta tags, description and google webmaster coding would help you

On Page SEO means creating your site with the goal of making it search engine friendly. It means that you had the factors to control your site completely.

In improving this, you must follow these:

*REGISTER A DOMAIN..make sure your keyword is your domain name. If possible the keyword must be in heading 1, 2, 3.

*Use at least one internal link to another page on your site with your keyword as anchor text.

*Include an image and put the keyword in the Alt Tab.

meta keyword is useless atm

Ok so I got my home page title tag changed from my url to something more keyword related. I added some alttext to my pictures. Now does google hate my amazon affiliate links and how would I mask my affiliate link so google likes them better?

Do not be concerned only on meta tag. Most search engines do not use that again. The best thing is to write your site content with specific keywords in mind. That will help you to easily rank for those keywords are the ones related to them. Search engines look at the body of the content to place a site in search results. Not the meta tag.

To improve your onpage seo you must do the proper keyword research for your website. And after that try to analyze the top sites and then do your site meta tag optimization.

If you wrote all that content fresh, or had someone write if fresh, you will see some traffic, but you will need a TON of traffic to convert these products.

Most people who use search engines to research chairs don't buy them online. They're just looking, and then they buy locally.

If you want to make money on this domain, get rid of the aff links, and go with Adsense, because your visitors are just researching and clicking away. Make money when they click away.

Also, you will get way more traffic if you go regional on it. Have content that mention particular States, and Cities and you will see traffic grow dramatically.

Why do I know this? Because I make money off office furniture traffic every day on one of our shopping niche sites.

Shoppers that will click ads and are willing to do so search terms like this;

inexpensive black leather chairs for sale + Columbus Ohio

You are not going to compete with Amazon, Ebay, Nextag, etc. EVER. You CAN beat them with regional long tails though.

Your onsite is quite ok. However your quality back links and the quantity is bare to none...I would start with the offsite at the earliest if you want to compete with the big boys..Good luck...
