So, for seo purposes...

Let's say I want to target the keyword phrase "big yellow widgets" and the domain bigyellowwidgets.com or hyphenated version are not availalbe. What would you say is better when buying a domain name from the following choices which are available to register:

  1. widgetsbigyellow.com
  2. mybigyellowwidgets.com
Basically, do you think it's better to add a short word or number to the keyword phrase keeping it in order such as #2 above or do you think simply moving the keywords around within the phrase is a better option such as #1 above?

If I want to target 'big yellow widgets' and get the domain name widgetsbigyellow.com, can I rank for 'big yellow widgets' just as easy as if I had the domain with the phrase in order such as bigyellowwidgets.com?

    You could do WidgetsWide.com

    Then do:

    BigYellow.WidgetsWide.com
    BigRed.WidgetsWide.com
    BigBlue.WidgetsWide.com
    BigGreen.WidgetsWide.com

Just a thought... If the term you are targeting is "big yellow widgets" - then BigYellow.WidgetsWide.com gives you an Exact Match Domain... Plus the option to build more!

    CHEERS!

Your domain should stick in people's minds.

Easy to spell, easy to say.

      The shorter the better.

      Avoid plurals. (see #2)

Avoid putting a string of keywords together in a domain. One is enough, if at all.

    I'd go with mybigyellowwidgets.com
That's the one I'd remember most I think.
