#1 On Google With 1.8 Million Searches But ZERO Clicks

Hi all,

I have a keyword ranked #1 on Google.com organic listings that gets 1,830,000 monthly searches yet I'm only seeing about 20 clicks a day!

This is really weird! It's got me stumped, I ran the keyword through Market Samuari and it says I should get around over 25,000 clicks a day.

I've re-worded my title to see if that will help increase clicks, but even if my previous title wasn't the best surely I should be getting alot more than 20 clicks a day.

Any ideas guys?

Cheers
Neil

It wouldn't be the first time that search numbers are not correct.

Dude, you should never believe what market sam says or a lot of the tools as they are a guide.

I used to test keywords with impressions with a crappy ad in adwords to see of a kw was bs or not and so many were. (not saying your is)

You also gotta take in to count exact, phrase and broad match searches.

Another thing that you title and description copy is poor and so no one wants to click on it even if its number one.

If i were you take a look at the kws and check your ad copy. Or maybe let me take a look at the site?

    My thoughts good lucK!

      Hi,

I used to run this keyword in an adwords campaign early last year so I know there's alot of traffic for it even for exact match, I've changed the copy around so fingers crossed, I have just noticed there are 3 PPC ads directly above it so that's not helping a great deal.

      Cheers

I would never rely on 3rd party keyword tools. How should they know what is going on?

Broad , phrase or exact? I would have thought market samurai would have updated their numbers by now. I do my keyword research with the most powerful multi-threaded processor in the world with an application that automatically updates thousands of times a day so I don't use market samurai anymore.

Are you sure you are #1? Try clearing your history/cache/cookies... if you keep visiting a site for a certain keyword it will eventually show up at the top but only for you

Your meta description and title tags are the first thing I would look at. Essentially those ads are outranking you, so you have to give people a reason to look past them to your site.

The only keyword estimation tool I have found to be accurate is running google adwords in exact match for phrases I think will be good.

Hint: you can also run very broad broad or phrase match to see what keywords are actually being searched too.

Your numbers have to be way off, there is no way that you could only receive 20 clicks a day for a search term getting that much traffic....no matter how bad your title, page description on your listing is you would still get more traffic than that even by people clicking your link by mistake!!....

I would agree with the comments regarding your copy and description....very important!

if that doesn't work, than make a video and try to get to your target audience via video..they usually rank pretty well if you optimize the video file.

also do a search using another browser so you get a fresh search session to check on your serp slot

Your location on WF says your from the UK.

Are you just going to google and searching your keyword?

Your site may be listed #1 in the UK, and Market Samurai is displaying stats for #1 in the US.

Use a US proxy and search your keyword on google, and see if your still #1 for a US searcher.

I'm in Canada, and if I just search my keyword, I'm #1, but if I use a US proxy I'm page 3.

        Good luck,

        Nick

I found the problem, I was running an old version of Market Samurai, MS usually auto-updates but for some reason it hasn't been so I had to manually update it, all the figures seem to look more realistic now.

Still going to work on increasing click through.

    Thanks for your help guys!
