Hi guys, I recently set myself up a site and all that jazz, Now I jsut need to do the backlinking. I'm doing it manually, the thing is, I was advised to focus on one keyword a day (I've got 8) For each page on the site. To post them at squidoo, ezine etc.

The problem is, I don't want to do it over a week, I reckon I could get all the backlinking done in a day or two as I'm off work.

I was advised to do it over a week to give Google the impression my site is growing naturally, but is this NECCESSARY? If I'm doing it manually over a couple of days surely that would look natural as well? Rather than doing an hours work a day over a week.

Feedback and advice would be HUGELY appreciated. I'm new to the forum and heard this is the #1 place for internet marketing discussion.

Thanks, spope91.

Hey, Spope. Good question. Now, I'm a bit new as well but I'll throw in my 2 cents before all the professionals get here.

I've also heard a lot of people suggest that you build backlinks over time to make it look natural, and so far in my experience, I think that is wise advice. I don't always understand why, but it just seems that it's better to do that kind of stuff over time instead of all in a day or two.

Have you considered setting up a few other sites? Taking it slow with multiple sites should be somewhat of a comparable amount of work to building all your backlinks in a day with one.

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

      Good ? Spope...

Create all the content during your time off - submit in intervals spaced out by a day to each of the sites/directories. Needs to appear "natural". Easy on doing too much "juice" at the same time...

Wow thanks for the feedback guys

Some slightly mixed info though. I think I'll let a few more replys chip in before I decide what to do.

I would start up a few other prodjects but the thing is I'm quite low on cash

I need to renew my car insurance within a few weeks so I wanted to get my first one out there and earning a.s.a.p

Perhaps I could meet things half way and do the backling over 4 days?

Thanks for the info guys it's highly appreciated

Honestly, if you're doing it manually, you don't need to spread it out at all. You're not generating massive amounts of backlinks.

Google indexes pages on its own about once a month, and a manual input is not going to set off any flags. Hell, I send thousands a day, and I've never had a pagerank problem.

    Hope this helps

Agree totally. You're only advised not to go in too heavy because historically automated mass backlinking tools have gone in heavy and of course Google doesn't like non-human or spammy/black hat behaviour.

To look automated you'd have to be posting 100s of backlinks a day if not thousands.

So, imho you don't need to worry. And hats off to you for tackling the task with your bare hands!

I agree with you Lazy, I have hired people to do my backlinking too and they have gotten me a couple thousand in a matter of a couple of days and it didnt seem to hurt my sites.

      spope,

You can outsource everything and as long as you proofread everything it doesnt matter how much gets done in any time frame.

Thanks for the advice, I'm not looking to put out thousands within a couple days, or outsourcing, I'm going to do it manually as I've got alot of time on my hands the next couple days, in yours and Lazy's theory, this wouldn't damage my results and appear natural like doing it over time would?

        Thanks

Well, the jury is out on whether backlinks should be built methodically over a set period of time, or just go in and blitz the site. IMHO, I feel that you should do your backlinking slowly so as to make your backlinks look organic. You'll probably be less likely to get sandboxed by the Big G this way also.

go slowly.. add 4 - 5 links in a day. Don't do massive or it may look like spam & chances of getting your site dropped.

Personally, I think it's fine to build up to 500 backlinks per month to your site, either all over a couple of days or by doing a few each day for a month.

The key thing to remember in my opinion is that the sites you're getting backlinks from are all going to be indexed at different times by Google. Google will index the sites that post regular content faster than those that don't so they'll all be indexed at different speeds. As a result, some of your backlinks will get back to your site very fast, others may take a month or six weeks.

As with anything, it's the consistency that matters. Doing one blitz on backlinks is fine, but it's the tortoise (doing 5 or 6 per day, every day) that will win the race.

Hope that makes sense and helps.

        More great advise thanks

Would 50 backlinks in a couple days be too much?

The main aim of my site is the opt-in straight at the beginning, so I'm not majorly fussed with backlinkling it consistently over the year, I just need it to be on the 1st page for a couple months so I can get some targeted e-mail addresses.

The keyword I've got for has very little competition When in "quote marks" and searched on google it has less than 1,500 competitors, but it's searched 450,000 times a month globally.

My domain is the keyword.com, so that's a good start. The competing sites have nothing of the sort in their domains. My site is structed well. I've been advised to build up approx 50 high quality backlinks on web2.0 sites, over the period of a week, using my keyword tree and the pages the keywords relate to on my site (I hope this all makes sense lol)

        Thanks again guys, spope

Not at all. I generate 50 backlinks a day on other forums, just by posting. That's why you should list your link as anchor text in your signature.

    Hey there.

I started out creating backlinks manually for one new website in around 2 days. Did around 5 new websites and backlinks by hand and did not have any signs of Google Dance or sandbox.

I guess you could never build enough per day manually to be penalized for it, because Google probably can't find all your backlinks immediately.

Excellent, this is the kinda thing I was hoping for. I thought surely if I'm doing them myself manually it would look natural. I can understand that being the case if you have thousands all of a sudden.

      Thanks pal

Go and hire people to do backlinking for your website. Instead of doing it yourself you can hire other people to do it for you. it will give you more nd more benefits as your site will be opened from different computers all over the world. it will give a real impression of growing website. Thanks!!!

You dont have to worry so much over that cause Google will come to the pages where your back link appears at different dates. Some sites they come around quick and some slower depending on factors such as freshness and popularity of the site...Hope that helps..

Just be consistent. Whether you build 5 links per day or 500 links per month, it doesnt really matter. The key is that you keep it up and you will see your site rising in the search engines over time. Focus on building a long-term business rather than immediate results.

What ever method you end up using for your back links, try to use a variety of different key words in your anchor text.
Also try not to point all of the links to your home page, link to your internal pages as well.
