Is it pointless to comment on blogs with 0 comments?

Do you comment to blog posts that are not just published, but don't have any comments yet?
From my experience, most of them never get approved. And i'm talking good manual and on topic comments here. There is so much spam, that most of the blog owner doesn't seem to be even checking their comments queue. What's your success rate with that?

Which leads to the next question, what's your method of discovering on topic blogs that actually have some comments already? (using ScrapeBox or manually)

    When you posted here with the your question, I could have decided to ignore it, of jump in fast so that I am the first responder.

    If you see a site with 0 comments on it, it may be safe to assume that they do not accept comments.

    But if some of the posts have comments, that could simply mean that no one else has offered anything of real value to the blog, and you have the opportunity to be the first.

    I check the comments queue, but if Akismet catches something and throws it in the spam file, odds are good that I'll never see it because I usually only look in there when someone tells me they left a comment but I don't see it pending approval.

    Also, even if a comment appears to be manually entered and on-topic, if the commenter's URL seems junky or spammy, I probably won't approve it.

      The higher the PR of the post and the lower the number of outbound links (comments), the more link juice will your own backlink on that blog give to you.

      Zero comments? Nice!

      There's a ScrapeBox addon that checks the number of outbound links for each harvested blog post. Very useful to spot posts with few or even zero comments...

      ...or just delete the URL and approve the comment

        If you want your comment to stick, write something that shows you've actually read it and are interested in it and can contribute in some way.

        Leaving a comment such as- nice layout, great blog, interesting thought, etc. shows that you're looking for a link. I delete every single one of these.

        I have to say commenting first do have many advantages!

        I actually subscribe to the RSS feed of a few top blogs (Blogs that have a REALLY loyal following) and keep a look out for them.

        Whenever a new post comes up, I fly in to comment first! Usually most blogs have their oldest comments right at the top.

        (Getting a comment in there first is just like having my 'resource' link at the bottom of that Top internet marketer's blog post - Well... almost like it)

        Years down the road even, people that go back to that same blog post still see your comment and if they like what you are commenting about, then you have a new visitor to your site!

    Yes it is pointless for the readers should put their words so that they can appreciate more writings from the same author and get recognized.

    I usually comment on blog even id it has 0 comments yet as long as it has high PR and already crawled by Google bots.

    Yes but even we do comment on relevant topics , how to know whether they get approved or not
