Do article submitters really work?

Here is my situation in a nutshell.

I use a program called article marketing robot, it has about 3700 directories that it uses.

Only about 2000 of those directories got their accounts succesfully created.

From selected 2000 directories for my articles (all which where spun), I got 1200 approved articles. A lot less than 2000 but it's still 60% succes rate and a bunch of backlinks, I think.

Then I do a report to see how many were actually approved (as opposed to published) and the number went down to 474.

Now it get's worse.

I go back to the page that I backlinked to and do a backlink check.

Guess what....10 backlinks total and I did the above submission 2 weeks ago. What do you think is going on?

Thanks guys.

Did you manually check the site to see if the article is there? If you are worried about it, thats the way to check it.

Don't trust the backlinks either, its not that accurate and can take awhile for your links to show up.

      Hey Aaron,

What did you mean when you said it could take awhile for the backlinks to show up? You mean show up in the checker program or Google actually approving them?

What I noticed is that the articles where in fact there, but that article address doesn't show up as a link on the backlink checker.

I remember when I first did a submission for one of my pages (on a wordpress blog), it got like 200 pingbacks in 2 days, I was like wow that's great. However perhaps those pingbacks didn't constitute as backlinks.

However could it be that Google has only credited about 10 backlinks out of the hundreds that I sent to my page? These articles directories don't all have high page ranks, so maybe they might take forever to get indexed.

Another strange thing is that after searching for the article address in Google, I see that it actually did get indexed, but I still am not getting any backlinks for it.

So what you're saying is that I could very well have a bunch of backlinks but the backlink checker only showing me a few? Maybe only those from Yahoo or something.

      Thanks for your time.

Never use google to check backlinks. Use Yahoo the same way.

Check that number and I bet its a bunch higher and more realistic.

474 live articles for amr isn't that bad.

While it may seem depressing, starting from 3700 sites it's still a lot of backlinks for one simple submission.

Checking backlinks in yahoo will NEVER show all of your backlinks, it just won't happen.

In your live links report, you can visit each article and check and see if your link is live or not...but here's the kicker, if not....what can you do?

474 articles for 1 submission is pretty good. If you really want to make the software "work" for you....keep submitting more articles.

Thank you, I thought I was doing something terribly wrong. Those results made my heart skip for a second.

Other than checking each live link 1 by one, apprx what percentage of those live links can we say that we have received a backlink for, or that has actually been credited by Google? My thinking is that 450 articles approved doesn't mean 450 backlinks.

Also, I understand that that is still a lot of backlinks for 1 simply submission. However, makes me wonder why only 450 got approved from the 1200 published. Each article was unique and I entered all the fields properly.

Mind you, I did blast all the 2000 articles at once instead of using the scheduler, could this have caused many directories to not approve my article? Or perhaps the scheduler is just to look for natural for the search engines.

Thanks again for your support, I really appreciate it.

I just using the yahoo backlink checker and it only returned 8 results. This is 2 weeks after 480 articles got successfully approved with article marketing robot. Wouldn't this just give us the backlinks approved by Yahoo? I wasn't using Google before, I was using this website:

Not approved by Yahoo but found by Yahoo. It can takes weeks/months for Yahoo to find your links.

This is why I said if you want to know for sure, you need to go to each site to see if the article is up (manually).

Or another way is to search on google for your article by the complete title in quotes and see how many return.

Ah ok I get it. So basically your saying that I could have a lot more backlinks than what the checker program is actually showing me?

I did the search for my blog pages that I backlinked to on Google with qoutes, and it's still showing very few results. These are pages that I have used an article submitter and successively got about 450 approved for. It only shows 18.

Another web page only shows 1 backlink from a social bookmarking site. This is after I used Onlywire to submit 50 different sites, which 40 of them succeeded. Could it be that even after having searched that way in Google that it's still not showing me the number of backlinks I actually have or that they are crediting?

I don't care the exact number, if I submit 400 articles and get 200 backlinks no problem, but if it's less than 50 I start to wonder why.

    Check this out thought:

For one article submission (that got approved on 450 directories) I got 250 backlinks to my main website www.dorianrenzi.com. But in that same submission in the resource box I also put another link to a sub-page on my blog. However I got way more link to my main website than I did to the sub-page. Don't know why that is.
