Hi there!

I have a basic seo question that I need answered and am hoping that someone can help me out.

I have a client with a cookie-cutter mlm site. The basic info is there for the mlm but she wants to increase her rankings in the search engines.

There is a company running the site already. She wants to add articles etc to the site to attract more customers.

Would she be better off adding these articles directly to her site or to build a Wordpress blog that we can both manage together and link the articles back to her original site?

The question is what would be the advantage of building a new blog and linking back to her site?

I just can't get my head around this and would love some comments on it.

Thanks!

Cathy

Create the WP blog and link back to the site you want to promote from links in your own content. Small posts, large posts - it's all good.

However....some advice - don't promote some other domain you don't own at all. Just work on domains you own. You need total control in the long run.

Those cookie cutter sites and pages are the kiss of death in SEO, BUT with enough content growth they can still get traffic......but why sign up to be someone's b*tch. Spend your precious time building your own domains.

Your idea of working with a friend on your own Wordpress blog is PERFECT.
DO IT! You won't regret it.

If she adds the WP blog to her existing domain, that will help raise the credibility of her site, unique fresh content is always good. Make sure the articles are focused so she will be higher in SERPs. Yes you want links pointing back to the site, but look for other sources for that.

So add the blog to the existing site or create one independant of the site - I guess that is the question now.

      What one is best?

      Thanks!

Either work fine. It really depends what the goal of the blog is. If you're using the blog simply as bait for getting visitors over to the place where you are selling your products, I find that a separate WordPress blog is the best route to go.

If your intentions are to give visitors to your website some content to read, add it to your website.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about.....

My friend owns a local restaurant delivery/courier service. He wanted to add a blog to his site. Instead, what I'm going to do for him is to create an outside WP blog where we will target local food. The intentions of the blog is to wet their appetite and strategically place links to his site in certain posts with a salesy-type pitch about how they can get that specific meal delivered right to their door. This method wouldn't be as effective if it was attached to his site.

Search engine optimization is the process of improving the volume or mass flow of the website through search engine results natural or not opposed to search engine marketing for paid inclusion.

How did I know this was the exact definition listed when I searched Google for "definition search engine optimization"!?
