Hi if i want my site to rank for two keyword phrases is it ok to create both keyword back-links in a forum sig profile pointing to the same site or would i need to just do 1 key word and create 2 forum profiles? So for example can i do this;

Keyword 1 anchor Text | Keyword 2 anchor Text

as links in the sig but both point to - mydomain.com

Are there any pro's or con's to this?

Thanks in advance.

    To be honest I've never tried this before. My understanding is that it's good to mix up your link text a bit, so I would alternate between the two and also mix up each phrase a bit as well. I.e. 'best bowling balls reviews' or 'bowling balls' or 'best bowling balls'. You have to make it look natural to Google. If every single back link has exactly the same text, Google will think you are cooking the books.

    Nope this will not work. Google only counts the first URL to the same site on a page adding more do not count and are useless.

      Are you sure? As I use Pauls backlinks and on his pdf examples he has 3 versions of anchor text for his services all pointing to his domain in his sig's? So it must be ok, i just need some clarification.

        He is just saying that. He may even believe it himself.

        Look in your Google Webmaster Tools at a link from 1 page with two of your URLs on.

        It will say something link Home page as 1 link on page x. Even though page x has two links if you look on it.

    There are really no pros and cons to that if you are using a forum. In the case of using backlinks from other sites, the best thing is to use one keyword.

    It doesn't look natural to have two links to the same site with different anchor text right next to each other. When you are looking for long term rankings you should be aiming for a link profile that is as natural as possible.

    Or make the oher link to an inner page. As far as I know, you could have 10 signature linnks. What is shown and how they are valued, nobody knows for sure but it won't hurt you.

    I think you should use only one keyword. Because Google will crawl up both of the keywords.
