Hello All,

I just bought my first domain. I plan on running an information based website that will be supported through affiliate sales. What are some tips that you wish someone told you when you first started out. They can be as general as "JUST DO IT" or as detailed as you like.

Let me hear some tips! This can be useful for a lot of us.

    Two things you need:

    1. Great original content, and lots of it

    2. Tons of backlinks, but not built too fast, as the search engines will see you are manipulating them.

There are tonnes of other factors, but you will learn them as time goes on.

I agree...get content that is 100% unique and original and check it with copyscape to be sure and start building the backlinks.

Also look into on page seo as well as this will make a huge difference.

        Find yourself a plan!!

Don't just wing it (make it up as you go along), as you will lose lots of time and focus. Find someone you think knows what they are talking about who has a plan you think you can follow, and follow it.

It doesn't matter if you add your own bits in, but at least you have a game plan to follow, and you know what your next step is going to be.

        This helps a lot!

        Cheers
