Let's assume you hit page #1 in the weight loss niche with a keyword which has 15.000/searches per day.

What would you do?

Would you try to monetize with AdSense...or put relevant clickbank offers on it?

You need to do some testing all niches are different. Depending on your demographic and search phrases they may go crazy for buying a ebook. Or, they may be 12 year olds and not a one will purchase anything but they will click ads.

Do some tests my man! (preferably at least a few weeks with each, also try something middle of the road like CPA offers)

I have done it and monetize with a a weight loss affiliate.

Well hell, time has came and gone...

Ranked #2 for "biggest loser" or "the biggest loser". Got tons of traffic daily and 20k+ on the nights the TV show ran.

Monetized using YPN back in the day and an affiliate through The Biggest Loser Club.

Popularity has came and gone but was a nice 2 years while the show was airing.

Yip in this case I would use an affiliate product. You need to find out the market value of the keyword i.e. is it a buying keyword?

In the case of weight loss though people are always looking to spend money for fixes, so you can bet you would make some sales with this.

I would list build with an amazing and compelling video opt-in.

[+] Promote 3-4 helpful CB fitness affiliate products in your free report.
[+] Followup over 60 days with good content and a mix of promo's.
[+] Once that list reaches 5,000-10,000 create and promote your own CB products.
[+] Recruit some of your customers to become affiliates.

This way you can build a business long after your ranking is gone.

...the coolest thing about this is if you can reach the point where you are making many sales per day, you will build a buyers list...who in turn can become affiliates.

At that point it will grow on its own.

It would depend on the niche and of course plenty of testing would be necessary (or at least very useful), but for long term financial security this sure looks like the best idea in the thread so far.

I would tell Google that I have found a loophole that will destroy their company, and bring the web to its knees if they don't do something about it.

Nice. I'd use Google Website Optimizer to try different offers and see which makes the most $$$.

Before I'd do anything else, I'd hire an outsourcer full-time to promote the site and make sure I STAY THERE.

Been there and didn't do this - big mistake.

    otherwise, lots of testing. congrats.

I would test both adsense and affiliate products.

I have sold more physical products in the weight loss niche than digital products, but it all depends on the keyword that you are ranking for.

Is the keyword a buying keyword or looking for information keyword?

I would put relevant content on it coupled with Adsense and Adbrite’s PPM.

I would promote relevant Clickbank offers.

Adbrite would be to ensure that the site makes money because the banners are based on impressions.

Adsense is because traffic from the weight loss niche is very “click happy” so banners ads would have a relativity high conversion rate. And since it is such a popular niche the cost per click can easily be somewhere between $3 and $7.

The Clickbank offers would be so I can make the “big bucks.”

There is no reason why you can’t do all three.
