How many keywords can one page realistically target?

I'm just wondering about this because it wouldn't really make sense to make multiple pages of content for the various keywords as they are very similar.

For example, the main keyword I want to target is:

XXX Review

I have set up all the on-page SEO to target that as my main keyword and that's not a problem. However, I want the page to also try and rank for some of the other long tail keywords like

XXX 60GB
XXX 120GB
XXX V2
XXX FIRMWARE

etc...

Should I just blindly attempt to rank for these by placing them 2 or 3 times within the page while I'm actually writing in context about the product or is there a more structured way that I can attempt to rank for these keywords as well?
#keywords #page #realistically #target

Depends on how you have your site/blog setup. If it is a blog the best way to do it would be to make those other phrases.. links to pages specifically about that keyword. Include images with anchor text or even videos. You can also place them on the page but I wouldnt saturate it. You will get your best rankings from pages that are internally linked well and have incoming links with the appropriate anchor text you want to rank for.

I wouldnt try and rank your page for more than 3 keywords. But specific pages interlinked will work better.

I used to rank (testing) some pages for 3-4 keywords, but later I realized its better (working) to target only 1 keyword a page, however, I used to repeat variations through the page 2-3 times maximum, whenever possible, add them to h6, h5, h4 ...etc, get fair amount of backlinks to the same page with these keywords as the anchor text, link that page from other pages within the same site with different anchors using these variations as the anchor as well

If your site is Wordpress & setup for Tags that's what I would use.

    Wordpress Tag1 = XXX 60GB
    Wordpress Tag2 = XXX 120GB
    Wordpress Tag3 = XXX V2
    Wordpress Tag4 = XXX FIRMWARE

Then seo each individual Tag/Page-Title, that gets you an extra free page that you can seo without the need to write any content. Just make the Tag/Page automated to pull that Tag keyword & use it for everything seo related.

    Tag-Keyword:
    1) Page-Title
    2) Meta-Description
    3) Image Alt-Text
    4) <h1> tag
    5) Internal link with anchor-text pointing to Article/Post

The number of keywords that can be placed in a web page can be as low as 1 and as high as 15 (maybe 20). You can include as many as makes sense for a visitor, a potential buyer, or those who will link.

You only want to target one keyword per page. Targeting multiple keywords on one page, may confuse google and cause you to NOT rank well. So use separate pages if you want to target more than one keyword.

partially agree with you but you can target atleast 2 keywords on single page and include your keywords in title. description, keywords and in content. Your keywords are similar if you are using wordpress theme then you can use your keyword in tags.

We can't say that 2 keywords is must for a single page. From my own long experience of 10 years in SEO, I have seen numerous websites targeting 4,5 keywords in a single page and enjoying higher position in SE's. I think the right parameter to decide the number of keywords should be based on the theme of the website and the content of the page.

ya that's true but if you are using similar keywords then you can target more keywords. like if you targeting software development uk then you can target software development in uk , uk software development, software development and many more.
