Just making sure if this is correct. Will creating more pages to a site generate more traffic to the site?

      If home page is ranked #2 will that help other pages get up to page one? Or should the other pages be helped with backlinks?

        Hi 3000,
        The more number of useful pages you have on your site, the more virtual realestate you own in your niche. If you keep building your site in terms of quality content, over time, you will certainly rank well.
        Google looks for relevancy when it shows results. If there are two pages on your site that Google feels is highly relevant for a keyword, then both pages appear as indented results on the SERPS.
        So, keep building quality content and also build backlinks by syndicating your site content to article directories and through RSS. You will win

    Each page is independent in the eyes of Google. If yo uare trying to rank 2 pages for keywords, home page gets results for one keyword, inner page for another. So, short story is a high ranking homepage, has no relevance in ranking inner pages. they are two separate things. Generating more pages for traffic depends on your content and your reader's desire to move on within your site.
    Treat each page as it's own seo effort if you are trying to rank them. Or, rank your home page for multiple keywords.

    Generating more pages will only bring in more traffic if you will get those pages to the top of the search engines where people will see and click on them.

    Well, you are misinformed and everyone else that thinks more pages = more traffic.

    If no one knows about your site, and no one knows that theres new pages, what good does it do? It will only get you more traffic if your off page SEO is going!

    In theory, Yes, however in reality, No, unless each page ranks good in the SE's. It's just as if you would post your page in a rotator site and your visits will be sent equally towards each page.

    I suggest you optimize your main page first and go from there...

    So I'm taking that I have to do the proper SEO for each page and rank them to get even more traffic.

    Nice will do, I'm hoping my goal of reaching a $100 a day from adsense will be reached by the end of this month!

    One thing that was only briefly mentioned by some earlier...

    If you are constantly adding new content, Google (and other search engine) spiders will put you on the list to visit more often. This is a huge benefit as your content will get indexed quicker and more often.
